I have the first-gen Anova sous vide and it’s been stellar. I used it this weekend, as a matter of fact. It can make any meat tender :) You’ll definitely want to try it with a filet mignon. Personally I don’t see why it needs a wireless connection at all—the whole point of sous vide is to set an exact temperature and

In what industry? I’d expect $60K is achievable in some careers, but it depends on what sort of jobs you’re looking for.

You are doing your son a major disservice. Indie definitely does not give any more financial or work-life-balance stability compared to regular industry job. If anything it’s the opposite. You certainly work just as hard. And at least with an industry job you get a salary and insurance—indie development comes with

Totally agree. Whether the community loves your level or not really doesn’t matter. If I spent a long time on a level and I’m proud of it, keep it online! It’s not like Mario level data is large—it can’t be more than a few kilobytes!

Even taking the screenshot at the moment of the achievement isn’t going to fix this, unfortunately. A lot of games just pop achievements at dumb times. Not really Sony’s fault.

Yeah, I’m talking platinum trophies. There’s no real way to quantify a pure 100% completion on a game. Did you listen to all the NPC’s idle chatter? Explore every broom closet? Can you win without saving? There’s always a bigger purist.

I had a 1x burner. You need to load the original disc into an ISO, which takes a long time, then burn the disc (74m), then verify the burned disc (74m). 4 hours is about right.

You don’t need all the collectibles in Far Cry 4. You don’t even need to beat the Shangri-la section (I gave up on the boss). You do need all the radio towers and all the upgrades, so you need to collect mats from all the animals and stuff, but that’s legit fun.

We can just ask to be ungrayed? I, too, have suffered in the silence of gray purgatory for several years.

That’s fair; I’m just saying for a game like The Order you might end up with a platinum just because you enjoyed the game enough to beat it on Hard and collect the collectibles.

There are some games where it’s not that difficult to get the 100%. You can 100% Far Cry 4 pretty easily, for instance. Doesn’t mean you had to do every single thing in the game to excess—the trophy list is well balanced.

Your first warning sign should have been “they named a character Priapus.”

Who the hell says “2560x1440 = 2K”? Get that outta here. That’s nonsense.

I think it’s just familiarity. As a Playstation owner since PS2, the Playstation controllers look fantastic to me—nice and symmetrical! The XB1 controllers look overly chunky and the stick positions are wonky. If I used XB1 controllers often, I could easily imagine sharing your sentiments.

And many have suspected that Far Cry Primal was originally designed to be a $15 DLC as well.

It’s so much easier to melt butter though. You can just drop a stick of butter into a glass and nuke it for a minute—it never burns, and the worst that can happen is it might boil over if you way overdo it. Melting a stick of butter on the stove uses up a pan and burner, and it’s easy to burn it.

If you are interested in 4K media, the Sony STR-DN850 is not for you. It’s not HDCP 2.2 compliant, so it is incompatible with most content (e.g. Ultra 4K Blu-ray is out). This might be useful for a 4K gaming setup, but I wouldn’t use it in an entertainment center.

In a patch I believe they actually added a touch joystick.
