It is actually a bit amusing, the Commander crowd is a bit like the whole ‘PC Master Race’ thing - it is hands down the best format for non-competitive play and/or 3+ player games. 

It depends on your format; each has their own merits and drawbacks. If I recall correctly, the current formats are Vintage, Legacy, Modern, Standard, Pauper, Commander (also known as EDH), Tiny Leaders [Deceased] and Brawl [Dead on Arrival].
