Well, to be fair pretty much all we believe to know about our universe comes with one assumption that has never really been proven: Light travels in a straight line. Take that away and Hollow Earth actually might work.

Yeah, it happens...some sentences have one or more words too few or too many.

Well, global warming shouldn't have been a problem after a big volcanic eruption. Cloud seeds, on the other hand, may well be something more common after the Krakatoa going up. My bet would be more people noticing them/mentioning them, though (especially if they, for a time, were more frequent after the Krakatoa

So...what did that operation have to do with political turmoil in Basel and how did the mayor being present during that operation influence Fatio's choice of sides? From what the article actually says I want to say "Correlation does not imply causation" - also I'm not quite sure what correlation there actually is...

I wonder if there are "creationist" (or rather: religious/christian) textbooks for subjects that are not supposed to be "science" (or specifically a counterpoint to evolution). Is there any difference in e.g. English, foreign language or maths textbooks? What about basic (Newtonian) physics or basic chemistry? How are

Obviously. So it's all more about why rather than what.

Ah, but the reference still works, doesn't it?

If there's an orc coming, just give it up and run!

While I fully agree with the criticism of the bomb disposal's sloppy timing in TDKR and Bruce Wayne's strange healing powers, I do have to say that by that time that bomb went up I didn't care anymore and just was really glad the movie was over. Usually I'm fine with suspension of disbelief. But in that movie there

But the energy required is much different. Doc Brown's time machine only seems to need a push, maybe activation energy. The carrier would need that power sustained...oh well, good thing they have Tony Stark...a few of his suit generators should keep that carrier flying.

I wonder how he went from practically crippled by worn-out joints to...you know, batman.

Metamaterials?

Mr. Fusion takes care of it. Just so Thor doesn't have to power the ship with his lightning stuff...

Almost all time travel is better than Back to the Future.

Meh.

Yeah...electrons orbiting a positive charge should generate a magnetic field which should use up the electrons' energy, resulting in them dropping into the nucleus. No way to solve that without 20th century physics.

Did that...it's a pain in the ass...but in combination with all the other experiments around the discovery and measurement of electrons it was quite interesting.

I wonder if anyone ever did the 15" shell vs tissue paper experiment...

Yeah, I know the illusion - I just never feel quite followed by a flat image.
