For the whole “training goes out the window in a real fight,” that all depends on how you train. If it’s all “katas” a pre-set forms, then yeah, that’s gone. However, if your training actually has freeform sparring in it, then your training works just fine.

Both genders have the same build when they’re children, so they need the same things: a strike and a grapple. For both, the key is actual practice - less “kata” or just doing the moves in the air, and more full-contact training. So for your “strike” class, take whatever actually makes her hit and kick things - punch…

Your kid’s not a special forces soldier.  In a dustup with another kid, it’ll probably end in grappling.
