I'm a Hopkins alum, and I am so glad Hopkins is finally getting the negative press it deserves for its sexual assault policies. One year while I was there, they made a big deal about having 0 reported cases of sexual assault. The feminist group on campus launched an anonymous blog to see how legitimate this claim was

i just got authorship rights at a sub blog, i am totally planning on writing about problematic popular music, and BB is gunna be my first topic. they REALLY have come a long way, and it's very honest, genuine and inspiring.

As did I. We had plenty of fun. What a bunch of babies.

Happily, the Boys all grew up, matured, and then apologized for their earlier misogyny and actively worked toward ending VAWA. I'm not holding out hope for SAE et. all.

"[U]nreasonable stress demands a support system that can combat mental health issues. Academic stress at Hopkins is a reason for binge drinking."

You know, it's amazing: I went to a top-tier, high-pressure college with no Greek life (school policy; it was banned) and yet somehow we managed to relax on weekends, spend time with our friends, socialize and preserve our mental health just fine.

*Holds up megaphone and chants* THIS IS WHAT ENTITLEMENT LOOKS LIKE

God, ground those babies from parties for the rest of their academic careers. Their leather Sperry boat shoes will be the chalices from which I quaff their spoiled ass,
whiny baby, well coifed tears.

What a bunch of whiny assgoblins.

Wow, that's some seriously entitled bullshit. I'm a JHU grad and I know exactly the kind of person who wrote this. These are people who have never really been responsible for anything in their life before. They feel like they deserve A LOT out of life.

Pro-tip: Binge drinking enables mental health issues. I would somehow expect a school revered for their medical program to not have idiotic mentalities like these.

I have had to stop telling the story of how my dad told us he took our weimeraner "to NJ to live on a farm" after he dislocated my mother's shoulder and bit one of the neighbors (it's South Jersey - there actually ARE farms). Too many adults got that same shoe-dropping look on their face. My friend's 49 yo husband

THIS.

My dad was telling me funny stories about a dog he had growing up, which ended with, more or less, "Blackie just got to be too much of a problem in a small house in the city, so my parents gave him to one of their friends who had a farm upstate." me: "Um, Dad? Do you know what that means, when you send a pet to live

you should make every effort to be with them during their last few moments (regardless of the trauma it may cause). Animals may get very frightened about what's about to happen and being surrounded by the people that love them in their last few moments is something that's both important and kind. And they deserve

This was a hard read because our Great Dane passed away in the spring & it still hurts like a motherfucker. We struggled with what to do in regards to euthanasia but I'm grateful fate intervened before we had to pull the trigger. Indigo was the sweetest boy, with a heart as big as he was but he suffered from DM. It

I no longer read her column at all because A) she picks the most potentially shit-stirring tabloidesque letters possible, B) a lot of the time her advice is just bad, and C) she clearly spends half her mental energy trying to work in as many awkward, corny puns and jokes as possible into every line. Which is what

I was away at college when my mom and younger sister had my ~18 year old cat euthanized. They didn't tell me about it until after it was done. I'm still extremely upset about it now and it's been 5 years.

She tries too hard to be breezy and amusing in her responses, no matter how inappropriate. She's right, but she's a bitch.

I don't know if I've ever agreed with someone's message and disagreed with their tone as much as this. She's probably right, but you'd think a cat person would know not to be a jerk when someone is going to have to put down their kitty.

You never put down your pet. You send it to live on a farm up state. With big fields for it to run around in. You never put it down, especially not when you're away at college and don't have the opportunity to say goodbye.
