Sorry, I thought you were referring to the 'compact' US market Ford Falcons. Basic family transportation, but like anything I suppose, it has its fans. The Aussie Falcons are a different animal and indeed worthy of praise and cult following. Still, your downward view of all things Lancia seems small minded seeing as

Morris Marinas too

Not as bad as I was thinking

Really?...troll...

The 917 was the rare 7 speed model since I counted it shifting 6 times. Also, it sounds like its 12 cylinders have been bent into a V from their normally flat position

108 hp in a car that weighed around 2,200lbs is not a bad power to weight ratio. It was considered a reasonably quick car in its day. Easy to forget in our present of 300hp overpowered family sedans and minivans.

Fine, leave more for people that understand interesting cars and don't subscribe to every automotive stereotype, and keep your Falcons. Seriously, who gives a crap about Ford Falcons.?!..Oh wait, you do.... I'll admit I do like the Ranchero versions

Nope, you're wrong and that's that. Numerous rally victories & championships and some really really cool looking cars: Hello? Stratos? o37 Rally? Delta Integrale. They won because they were fast and didn't break. Dig a little deeper than the malaise 80's and you'll see many technical firsts as a well as a brand that

No kidding right? Also, wasn't it an R4 windshield?

I disagree, as do many many automotive journalists who loved the Barchetta

You're so right. The original was actually a very nice GT, especially in rare manual transmission version in the SC300

The cars that you use to define 'sports car' all have one thing in common though: They're 2 seat roadsters, compromised in many aspects for the sole purpose of enhancing driving pleasure. I say it's about the body type and styling, not the drive wheels or even all out performance. The 'Sporty' cars you're showing are

I think a combination of purity of purpose, fun to drive quotient, styling and attitude define what a sports car is regardless of the driven wheels.

FWD Fiat Barchetta vs RWD Lexus SC. So which one is the real sportscar?

So a '77 Caprice is a Sportscar but a Fiat Barchetta isn't?

The 71 if today is not the 71 of your father's generation. I see plenty of 70 year olds at my gym in better shape than slouchy, pudgy hipsters I see ironically dining at the local Red Lobster

Squinty eyes w mustache and dumbfounded mouth ajar

Seriously, older car are so much more interesting than most of today's CAD invented generic soulless look a likes

WHOA! You know about Sovam!??... A true Gallic automotive connoisseur..

The A310 was quite often very favorably compared to the 911, and found to have more benign handling. Looked a lot better too IMO.
