I'm surprised by all the people here saying the piercing gun is a bad thing, and that they should go to a tattoo place instead. I never got my ears pierced, but I think the majority of women I know got their ears done at some point in their lives with a piercing gun. Until fairly recently we would never have

I know! I was really surprised by the pediatrician thing as well. I got mine done for $12 at a place literally called Piercing Pagoda when I was 13.

I know you would have no idea what the answer to this question is, but I wonder how much a pediatrician would charge for an ear piercing? Is there much of a markup over a hair salon?

Chris Christie. Snooki's benign, he's dangerous.

The "sun".....riiiiiiight.

Even with Cary Grant's orange skin.

Do what feels right for you and your family. BAM! Discussion ended.

while it's totally possible to get that shape with just a person's regular hair, i'd bet it's more likely that there's a piece of foam or dense netting under there. it saves a lot of styling time, and keeps the hair from getting too damaged.

If she has hair like mine (immensely thick and prone to tangles) it's really easy to get gigantic volume with just your hair...it could be just ratted out to hell under that lovely smooth veneer.

My guess is there's a pretty sizeable real-hair piece under it, as well as quite a bit of teasing and a good bottle of Elnet involved in this beaut.

I had my hair done up in a beehive last year, and they can get some impressive height from just teasing it. And lots of hairspray and bobby pins, took me two showers to get my hair close to normal. My hair was about 3-4 inches past my shoulders back then.

Noooo. No piece. No donut. No sock.

Sometimes you can add some fake hair underneath, but sometimes they just tease your own hair.

The gown is gorgeously Mondrian and the hair is Monet... in that it looks stellar far away but up close it's like "Wait, WTF is going on here?"

Ha! I actually lived there now and I am no longer ashamed of my Jersey roots! I was born in NJ, raised in CT, college in NY, 2 years in LA, back to NY, and then I moved to NJ last year. I said we would only be there a year but, ya know what? It's not off the table for permanent residence at this point. I really like

Way to diminish this girl's achievement and supplant her intelligence with "grad students" like yourself. As a grad student myself, I'm a bit embarrassed by your self-importance and thinly veiled arrogance.

I usually enjoy your posts, but this particular one made me a bit side. Your original foray into this thread does seem to be unnecessarily diminishing and it doesn't really get better from there. :(

You couldn't let this poor girl have her five minutes on Jezebel? Seriously?

That's unnecessarily diminishing, considering that grad students are basically tweaking what their advisor and predecessors already did to make it novel.

Is it weird that in situations like this I imagine how an Obama-headed West Wing would deal with this scuttlebutt? Someone get CJ Craig on the phone to take down these pictures of the first lady! Tell Toby Ziegler to make a statement on it!
