Objectivity in criticism is a myth. It assumes that there is a universal default for personal taste, and that deviation from said default is indicative of bias. That default, when assumed, is generally white, male, heterosexual, cisgender, etc etc, or whatever the dominant cultural equivalent is where you are from.

Not true. For example, Juri Han is pretty flat, while Makoto has a broad, muscular chest that’d make her cup size lower than you would expect.

I was one of the first to defend Mika’s costume and body. My favorite game of all time is Bayonetta. My problem with Laura is that her outfit doesn’t fit her theme and fighting style. Perhaps it will look better in motion, but jeeze...just look at that second picture! That’s not a wardrobe malfunction waiting to

I’m normally one of the first to defend over the top T&A, but only when it makes sense. My problem here is that in several of her moves it looks like her top is about to explode.

I think the issue isn’t that she’s showing skin so much as it looks like she is seconds away from her boobs hulking out of her top.

Sounds like someone’s been reading Dune.

I can’t help but notice how their go-to metaphor for “thing I don’t like but can’t do anything about” is “rammed down our throats.” Seriously, count how often any given conservative commentator (or even your token conservative Facebook friend) talks about something being rammed, shoved, crammed, or otherwise

You’ve clearly never been to Asheville. Virtually all local businesses here have some sort of overt social awareness or help empower the community in some way. It’s a really great community, and these guys were a complete aberration.

I’ve alluded to it vaguely in my previous posts, but until now didn’t find it necessary to say that I’m not Christian. My religion is Jubilee, which is a sort of inclusive, loosely Abrahamic-based pantheism. It also believes wisdom and revelation can be found anywhere, from Buddhist sutras to Green Lantern comics.

Did the Joker and Harley get married?

Having grievances against the Roman Catholic Church is one thing. Tarring all religious people with that same brush is something else entirely. I have no doubt that, were my religion to grow to the same size as the Catholic church, just as much corruption could take root in it. That’s a sad fact of human-created

Wow. Nice cover image. Never has Donald Trump’s head looked more like a rotten yam.

On the flipside, the other day I spent nearly three hours explaining rape culture to a conservative friend of mine, dealing with his constant digressions into privileged victimhood and bringing him back on subject.

Before she passed, I was planning to propose to my girlfriend again at Dragon*Con that year. I say “again” because I actually proposed to her the first time before we started officially dating. She was in an emotionally abusive relationship and we’d been very close, far closer than she’d ever been emotionally with her

Fuck everything we stand for? The Pope just gave a speech to Congress directly castigating the right-wing for their support of the death penalty, their climate denial, their naked disdain for the poor and needy, and the entire heartless institution of capitalism. I’m not a Catholic, and Cool Pope is still far, far

People with more melanin than us lily-white Europeans tend to not age the same way. Oddly, though the phrase goes “black don’t crack,” people of Asian descent tend to just plain not age until they suddenly do. Maybe actual Japanese people would be able to pick out the signs of aging on her? But, from my white person

Well, just look at the death of Eric Garner. The excuse for the excessive force used by the police officer was that he was a huge man with inhuman strength and choking him to death was the only way to stop his juggernaut-like rampage. Meanwhile, the blame for his death is set at the fact that he was morbidly obese,

Funny thing is, your Android is more likely to be a component of a bomb than this clock. A cell phone trigger is pretty simple, you just have to make it so it triggers the bomb instead of ringing. You can even get fancy, like setting it to only go off when it receives a particular text.

Well yeah, that’s beyond dispute. “People shouldnt need marriage to be happy” is a statement I can get behind. She runs with it all the way to the end zone for a nutsdown by adding “...therefore, even if people want it, are legally entitled to it, and I’m legally obligated to give it to them, it ain’t no big thing if

...is it possible to agree with the letter of someone’s statement, while finding the spirit of it deplorable? It’s like...she’s not wrong, but she still missed the point worse than Shaq dressed as Steel. People shouldn’t need external validation, but they do, mostly because of people like you who make it their life’s
