I simply do the sniff test. If it doesn’t smell good I toss it. I’ve eaten many leftovers that have been in the fridge for over a week. I have yet to have any bad side effects.

I don't pay much attention to dates on food. My nose is the best indicator if food is bad. If it stinks I won't eat it. If it still smells good, then it's fine by me, even if the date on it says it expired months ago.

I wish my problem was clothes fitting too long... I'm 6'4'', and finding pants that fit is nearly impossible. Shirts that I'm not swimming in are always too short in the sleeves. I can't afford to get custom tailored clothes.
