I’m not sure I understand - what did she do a lot of? I can’t figure out what you mean by your reply to my comment.

That’s the lesson we can take from this. That’s the only lesson.
And now Rachel is claiming to actually be the Mail Kimp.
As someone who tries to be a good ally in many communities in which I’m not a member, what galls me is that she skipped the work that a good ally has to do, building trust and showing your “bona fides” by deferring to members of the community for what is good for the community.
Me & Las Vegas & bad French Dip sandwich. I spent a weekend in a (blessedly dark, cool) hotel room while my friends went out and had fun. By day 2, the hotel staff felt sorry for me and brought 7-up and fresh fruit. Day 3 was a 14 hour drive home.
I’d just ask for the person’s tribal ID card. Let their tribe decide who is and isn’t a member.
A civil action for deprivation of rights under 42 US 1983 goes to federal court, so it’s possible.
I’ll spring for a large Pag salad if I can join you. The Pag’s in Madison Valley has beer & wine.
Oh, but in the interview outing her kid, her mom said Rachel was “Czech, Swedish, and German — including possible traces of Native American.” Yep, we got a Cherokee princess up in here.
Believe me, in house lawyers can advise until the cows come home, but CEOs/C-Suite people don’t always take that advice.
Stannis’s dad was a Targaryen on his mother’s side. My assumption from reading the books is that “king’s blood” means descended from Targaryens, because of [spoilers]. Lucky for Melisandre, the Targaryens would F/M/K pretty much anybody, so lots of lords/ladies have king’s blood.
I swear by our Zuca Pro Travel bags:
I’ve set a reminder on my phone for The Spoils Before Dying. More Eric Jonrosh, please.
Any movie that contains the words “Portrait of a . . .” has got to be amazing. See, Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway, starring Eve Plumb.
I find it hilarious (and gross and frustrating) that people will call a bikini inappropriate for a toddler, while the toddler’s preferred bathing suit is “birthday.”
Is here where I talk about Weleda Skin Food, which is sort of like a lotion but for when your hands/other skin is so dry it feels like it might just blow away in a strong wind? It gets my shins through the winter, and is great at keeping my heals from looking ashy (or the white girl equivalent) when I don’t have time…
I would only add “Think abortion is terrible? Support comprehensive sex ed and birth control to lessen the need for abortion (but don’t try to make it illegal).” There is not a single anti-choice group that focuses solely on that, so quit telling me there’s any goddamn grey area.
Damn, I didn’t even make that joke on purpose, I am just naturally that funny. This was a long long time ago - she’s since passed away, but in her last decades was a staunch LGBT ally with friends and family all along the spectrum. She was really awesome.
I don’t know stats, but I knew a Gay couple when I was a kid that had done this - older guy adopted younger. I figured out what was really up when I was about 11 or so, but it took another 20 years to convince my mom.
She always reminded me of my mom, so now I'm doubly sad, remembering when my mom died and how lost my dad was. What a life and career she had.
