Loved your coment about Les Miserables because it's so true, and it's hardly the only one in the book: there's also that other great infodump at the end about the history and characteristics of Paris' sewer system... :)

Idris Elba? good!

Godz bar anyone?

Hey! The White Buffalo is awesome... or so my inner 9 year-old tells me... :D

Devil Tim Curry would make an awesome SB half-time show... (singing and dancing optional) #YesPlease

Ruined my day? nah, it was totally the opposite of that... it was a mightily entertaining day... ;)

Interesting review. The description reminds me a little of "The Years of Rice and Salt", in which the Black Plague wipes out 90% of Europe's population, so the only superpowers remaining are the islamic nations and China. As usual with KSR's books, it's full of politics and philosophy. It's a great read...

Plus: disabled friend from childhood that is secretly an awesome (and badly textured) alien/monster/defender of Earth! You just cannot top that.

Lol... I found it pretty much enjoyable, shit weasels and all... plus: evil Morgan Freeman... come on!

I love this one. An hilarious story of the "first contact" variety... Too bad there doesn't seem to be a Kindle edition... :(

Pffff... don't let mathematicians tell you what you can or can't do... Bloody Stupid Johnson actually built devices based on Pi = 3 (with unforeseen consequences for the postal office, tough)

For me it's Narnia too... I've been trying to read them but just can't find the time or the disposition...

O_o

Now that you mention it... mmm... let's see...

Children of the Sky by Vernor Vinge?

If it's any help, the page appears like this:

Um... I can't see any poll... (I'm using Chrome/WinXP ;)

Ha! I liked Captain America a lot, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of Top Secret by those scenes...

That "preciouss..." gave me goosebumps...
