But seriously, why would you want to have a Beetle on a Porsche chassis? Blasphemy!

Speedometer Drink Coaster, $11.95

My respect level for y'all just went up several points. I really appreciate the "behind the scenes" peek at what Jalopnik does for us, and while you claim this policy is for purely selfish reasons, part of me thinks it's because you guys know what's important to us, the readers. Thanks for seeing things from our

At one point [REDACTED] was behind the wheel and I recall turning onto [REDACTED] Street fully [REDACTED], the car taking up [REDACTED] lanes before [THIS SCENE DEPICTS INAPPROPRIATE HOONAGE AND HAS BEEN REDACTED] behind an NYPD patrol car. Maybe the cop liked seeing a Mustang do that, maybe he didn't see us at all.

Oh, I freely admit that it's the wrong answer. But since I've always thought about buying a Mustang, but likely will buy a Z, it's still my answer. :)

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I'd take the Nismo 370z over a Mustang GT any day. Plenty of power, a bearable DD if you grocery shop one day at a time, and can pull double duty on track day. Besides, I'm a Z car fanboy; what'd you expect?!!

I think Ford has been very cognizant of the fact that they have so many people to please with one single design, and it shows. My favorite thing about the front end is that it manages to blend cues from the last two generations while still taking a step forward. They haven't done anything drastic or ground-breaking

Nissan seems to be doing it right without overdoing it. If you look at their lineup, they balance quirky (Juke), sporty (370z), and batshit crazy (GT-R), with a well-rounded lineup of practical cars that are attractive and conservative at the same time. Plus, Nissan stays in the news with a regular flow of NISMO

This sounds obvious (and counter to the actual subject), but I think a great gift from a gearhead for someone who is not really into cars (but could be) is a Haynes manual for their model of car. I was thinking of giving one to my special lady for her '04 Grand Am, sort of as a joke.

Technically, drones would stay in class G (uncontrolled) airspace, which in most cases tops out between 700 and 1,200 feet above ground level. It gets trickier when you get within a certain distance of airport towers, and the distances vary based on size and traffic of the airport. For this reason, drone routes

Don't know why, but this just popped into my head.

That was the internet meme for a while. It's actually part of an art project in '88 where they disassembled a (then) new Golf Mk2 to photograph it like this.

This is neat; reminds me of laying out all the parts to a model kit before starting it.

I don't know if I'll ever do that with Newt, but I only paid $900 for her, (130k on the clock at the time). Getting a reliable car for the relative equivalent of Wampum is reason for celebration, plus I can always enter her in LeMons later on!

My '02 Accent (not the one pictured, but looks just like her) that I call "Newt" (for the character in Aliens). She's the first 5spd I've owned, and I'll never go back to a slushbox. She's cute & unassuming, easy to work on, loves curvy roads and always puts a smile on my face.

It's all about the balance and hoonability; if you get the chance, throw one through some turns on a twisty road, and I guarantee you'll get it.

These are fun little cars, and I'm hoping this news signals further expansion of diesel choices in the U.S., but I've never been crazy about the "modern" Mini. A large part for me is the odd dashboard configuration, but the real kicker is that they're just too popular. Elitist of me, I know, but they just seem

This guy almost approves.

You could say he was just hanging out, having a ball.

I love the tire smoke, but that's really funny. I should change my avatar to Grampa Simpson!
