It's a mistake to think everyone is using the same criteria here. If the only criteria anyone was using was cultural significance, than we could just put LotR vs. Star Trek vs. Star Wars and call it a day. The very first poll encouraged people to use whatever criteria they wanted and include whichever versions of

There is a difference between "which is the greatest" and "which is your favorite". Greatness requires objectively measured accomplishments, influence, place in history. Your personal favorite is merely that.

Answer: definitely not.

I like many others am beyond sick of the obsessive and quite frankly obnoxious Browncoat phenomenon. It seems to me it's gone far beyond a mere fandom and become a cult, with a religious reverence and faith-based dogma that Firefly is the one, true ultimate anything ever always and forever.

You could say the same thing about The Lord of the Rings. Would it even exist without Germanic/Celtic mythology or any of the other fantasy novels that preceded it?

The problem is that "greatest" is such a vague term. For me, the fact that Tolkien influenced so many other works is an important factor, obviously more important to me than to many other people on here.

THIS. I loved Firefly, but after it beat Star Trek, I decided that the Browncoats were making me dislike the very franchise they are supposedly supporting. Wait, do you think maybe the Browncoats are actually Fox executives who are trying to turn the tide of public perception such that everyone agrees that cancelling

Honestly, I don't care. I think that I can get along by enjoying what I think is a more satisfying product. I enjoyed Lord of the Rings, but it's just not as good.

Somehow I missed most of the vpotings - I think the posts are not evident enough with this new layout.

If Firefly wins again, io9 should run a "Nothing But Firefly Versus Firefly" bracket next March. Stop wasting everyone's time with all these other franchises, when the real question is obviously whether Firefly can beat Firefly in the Sweet 16, or will it lose to underdog Firefly after its close win over Firefly?

Wrong. I love Firefly. I just find Browncoats as intolerable and irrational as creationists when it comes to io9 polls.

He is also responsible for the Christopher Walkenthroughs. He is talented as hell! He is in quite a few of their Beer and Boardgames episodes on Blamesociety, and he has a recurring character named Dr. Moley that appears in a few skits on the same channel.

He does awesome vids of Christopher Walken as well. (Especially when they involve banter between personas)

Don't forget his Christopher Walken game reviews!

His name is Jason Stephens of Jasons Voices.com He also did a great video of Morgan Freeman playing through Southpark the Stick of Truth.

Y'know how some of those New-Agey types are always on about 'some families keeping the old ways' and such? Well the Three Families, see they were the real deal. They showed up to church on Sundays, all wink and nod, but their real worhip, that was Thursdays. We don't have a lot to tell us what it was like, though,

Soon there will be a broadway musical based on the movie based on the book, and then they'll novelize that, and then you'll get special Noah-branded Bibles and action figures and then maybe Lamech gets a spinoff TV show, the trailer for the trailer for the trailer for which is teased at the Super Bowl.
