Does a pro football team assign a staff member to monitor a game in progress for errors, such as too many men on the field (for either squad), scoreboard mistakes, etc.? Although much of the monitor's time might appear to be wasted, the payoff would be catching infrequent, but critical, errors such as this one.

Well, I didn't look at Star Trek websites to read about its ships "warp drive" until after I commented about the show, but then even I could see that Star Trek's warp drive was about a fictional propulsion system, not about riding our universe's expansion.
