personally as a driver in france, i prefer the the motorcycle drivers to the scooter drivers. one, because they are better trained, that they need to do courses to get a permit to be able to drive. two, because they are far more polite. 9 out of 10 motos will do the foot salute, i have no idea if anywhere else does

we have you surrounded! :D

i put it directly on the rack in the oven with something on a rack underneath to catch anything that drips. i just turn it on and let it heat to 150C and by that time it is nicely hot and crispy. :D

as a long time pagan, i welcome you to the weird side. :)

i make a “bolognese” sauce with milk, but it is a slow recipe. i cook the meat, after browning it, with the milk, until it is almost evaporated, then do the same with the white wine. that takes at least a half an hour. then i slow simmer with tomatoes for 3-4 more hours. adding water if the fat starts to separate out

oh yeah i am going to have to try this! despite living in france, i try everything to preserve my american cooking roots. though it has been so long now, it is now cooking americain à la française, even my tex-mex recipes. (like my three cheese macaroni and cheese, made with comté, gruyère, and AOC cheddar) but 7 year-

whenever a pizza song is mentioned this is the one that comes to mind... :D

it has been a while since i lived in a winter weather zone, but i do remember way back when i lived in michigan and post snow/ice storm and driving reasonably for the conditions, turn the sterring wheel on a corner and just continuing to go straght ahead. there is nothing you can do, just sit there and go straight for

unfortunately, we have a national curfew that starts at 6pm so the dinner from burger king option is kind of a no-go. (we typically eat dinner after 7pm, more likely after 8pm in france)

thank you for confirming my own personal biases! :D

as an american, i generally agree with these because of their familiarity. though, i grew up gen x with a single/divorced working parent, so the idea of chores was sort of hit and miss and not always strictly done. things got done, though i do not remember being made to do them. i did what i needed and what was asked

oh wow, you are right! i blame the pandemic for messing with my sense of time! :D

i hate to say it, but you missed hitman 2016 for free on epic games during the christmas sales when they were giving away a free game everyday.

i was just commenting to a friend about these... in particular the electric twizy and the ami. i live in south france, near st tropez, and a lot of the high school students drive these to school, along with the non-electric versions. the one in front, the citroen ami, costs about €7000, but you can lease one for less

from the MRE’s? i used to eat those too! :D

have your token ready for the “cancel culture” reference... :D

when i was in the army and we were in the field, i used to use hot coffee to shave. otherwise we did not have hot water to shave in the morning. other soldiers thought i was nuts, but i hated shaving with cold water. woke me up too! :D

well from an aesthetic standpoint, at least in europe, fiat has the most colourful cars on the road. all the other cars i see are mostly basic and standard colours. if i see any unusual colour on a car, more often than not it’s a fiat. i appreciate this greatly, because i am sick of the tri-colour tyranny of white,

i hope not!

nothing new... currently rereading “the seven ages of paris” to brush up on my french history, since i live in france. it is a very interesting book, currently in the age of the “commune,” after the chapters of Napoleon and before WWI.
