yeah, because a café au lait is served in a large bowl like cup with lots of milk. a café crème is served as an espresso shot in a normal coffee cup, with steamed milk. while a “noisette” is served as an espresso with a little bit of milk. the latter two are acceptable day time drinks. :)

as an american ex-pat in south france, 13 years, there are not many places like TH that i would feel nostalgic for. most of the coffee shops and restaurants that i frequented were local for my university small town. (i have only been back 3 times too)

oh man! i totally forgot the fact that in asia john denver’s “take me home country roads” was so popular. it was a mystery to me as to why, along with “hotel california” and yesterday once more” that were also popular in china. :D

lots, since i am not a big fan of the genre. but i had recently watched some “classics” for the first time; rosemary’s baby and the exorcist. both which i enjoyed, but each with some genuine “holy shit!” moments. :)

yeah, as an ex-pat american, just watching from the outside is enough to make me tear my hair out... :/

Neutral: At least one of my michigan friends has COVID, but luckily she is in her mid 40s, so lower risk age group. this is despite her taking as much precautions as she could.

oddly enough, back in the early/ mid 80s, i remember going with my small private high school to see a laser light show with van halen tunes. i have no idea why we went to that one in particular, but it sticks in my head since i think that is the only laser light show i ever went to. those were a thing... :)

i was reminded of this...

i have at least one friend that has an irrational fear of sharks, and will never ever in her life swim in the sea/ocean, thanks to jaws.

are you saying he’s an alien? i knew it!!! :D

i knew it!!! :D

is he making some kind of hand signal? because every time i look at that photo all i see is that un-natural finger/hand pose. just curious...

on the SF/fantasy side, i just finished gideon the ninth, which was quite good. i will get harrow the ninth, the next in the series when i can.

nothing wrong with getting away from the world, but there are other means of doing that. other means that actually do something.

i am still on a long term non-game playing hiatus. because i found that they were interfering too much with other activities; ie reading and writing.

oh man, is that headline confusing! i saw “holy grail!” and thought this was a david tracy article. but when i finished the headline i was whiplashed in the other direction and realized this was a torchinsky article. not sure what to do now! :D

in france, where i live, i buy a liter of lemon juice, and recommended mixture is 6 parts water to 1 part juice. no sugar added. you would know if sugar was added. i like it without sugar, but maybe it is an aquired taste?

ha ha! come! join us! raclette season is just around the corner too! :D
