Now, the question is whether there will be cross-platform multiplayer since I’m sure anybody I know who’d play will be on PS4.

I don’t particularly enjoy battling Bokoblin camps... so I don’t. I feel like the game gives you that option and the lack of a ‘leveling’ system means no grinding necessary if you’re not into it. Just start climbing/exploring and forget about combat for awhile. There’s always something pretty cool just over that ridge.
A Zelda game is never late. Nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to.
Stepping out of the first town and heading where you want and when you want is nothing new, not to the average gamer. It is however new to Nintendo fans and specifically Zelda fans, and that is where I find fault in all the praise and 10/10 that it is getting.
The whole reason why we got a rushed Switch launch less than 5 years after the Wii U’s launch is because no one (relatively speaking) bought it. Your assumption that someone has a Wii U lying around for BotW simply isn’t a good one. Furthermore, buying a used Wii U isn’t a particularly attractive option either, as…

I’m becoming more and more convinced that this is just a soft launch in March. For the hardcore. The real launch with full functionality and game lineup is holiday 2017. At that time, they will have a better launch lineup, the bugs will have been worked out of the OS by the faithful early adopters who are more able…
The flip side is that leaving open questions and trickling out details over the next few weeks will keep us talking about this thing through March 3.
