I used to always see Ontario, CA on packages and felt really confused since I live in Seattle as to why packages from Phoenix, AZ and LA Suburbs always shipped out of Eastern Canada... :)

If you mean Ontario, CA that's Ontario California, which is just outside LA and is one of FedEx's shipping hubs.

Then again I've had a pallet shipped via ground carrier arrive faster than a FedEx ground box...

More likely they held it because they had priority packages that needed to go first. Typically when I order UPS Ground it arrives in the fewest number of days possible. EG if I order something from the Bay Area it arrives in 2 days via ground.

Just ask anyone who has ever had a package go awry via SmartPost when buying from Woot.com...
