I can't understand the absorbed lack of compassion in your post. With all due respect, this person's story transcends aphorisms that in other scenarios might be fine. Here, you know, one person's story is not your own. No one can tell you how to heal.

Oh please, you're all class. Classy people discuss this stuff; it makes the world a better place. But I definitely hear you. I am always afraid of trying to help in writing, but also accidentally contributing to "more laws for women." I'm glad this got people talking!

All valid points. I think our writer was simply sussing out her experience and how she thinks it could contribute to women's happiness; it wasn't an attack on the idea of having a boyfriend or women being able to say whatever the hell they want.
