Just a quick note - I appreciate that you used a photo of two men (without any otherwise focus on homo/hetero relationships) in order to underscore the normalcy of the same. Relationships don't care about gender, and the message of your article - working on yourself - is universal to them all.

I was a server before and during college so, I get it. However, this scheme does nothing to eliminate confusion about tipping. If you're curious how the tip gets applied, ask the restaurant owner or manager in front of the waitstaff or — better yet — your server. Nothing encourages honesty like an audience.

Actually this is a terrific example to support my opinion. If my power goes out, I only pay for the electricity that I used. If there's no power, then I don't pay. Likewise, if there's no service from my waiter, they don't get a tip.

In the UK we pay our staff decent wages to start with so they are not relying on tips! But tipping is always nice - only if the service deserves it
