I suppose it's the whole "Create something where I see nothing" mentality mankind has, you know? I can see your point, but as someone that (I take it) isn't a console gamer, you won't understand until you make the plunge yourself. I game on consoles and PCs alike, and see the benefits of both.

A lot of people would argue that it's the principle behind owning something rather than paying for "licensing" from the console makers. It's the whole hullabaloo that was the driving point behind the modchip lawsuit a year ago, and the whole GEOHOT stink with the PS3.. (don't have links available to me)

you know why all these things are integrated into the CPU? It makes putting a modchip in a console VERY difficult if not rendering a successful mod impossible. Modchips work by intercepting information transfers between the CPU/GPU/RAM/etc.. This is why it's difficult (but not impossible) to chip the 360.

MS isn't going to let that happen. they have WAAAAY too much $ behind it and WP is a key element of their "three screens" strategy. I also agree with you, he COULD have a WP device. I have one as well, AND I own an original zune. I really hated my iPod and itunes was killing my MP3s (literally.. it would cut everything but the first 30 seconds off random songs) so I banned all iDevices in my house and my family never looked back.

press ALWAYS get preferential treatment at events like this. I'm not the only person this happened to, the PAX forums are full of complaints.

I stood inline for half an hour to play this @ PAX only to have a member of the "PRESS" line jump in front of me. I then moved to the FEZ line (they were right next to each other.. maybe a foot and a half apart) only to have the SAME EFFING PERSON line jump in front of me AGAIN.
