I'm really looking forward to this movie. Judging by the trailer, it appears to illustrate that being in an abusive relationship doesn't always constitute physical violence. Oftentimes it can be emotional and financial. It dovetails nicely with Kerry Washington and All State's recent campaign around financial abuse.

Uh...health?
A sense of well-being?
A way to remove toxins from your body?
A more restful sleep?
Challenging yourself physically?

I like going to the gym. I don't care what other people think of me when I'm there. Exercise gives me clarity and calm. And a good night's rest.

Like you, I have hope this can change. After the summer of #solidarityisforwhitewomen, I was surprised that #bringbackourgirls was a thing. I've been noticing a few op-eds supporting black women, written by white and black men. I see changes around this site. The Ravens had to drop Ray Rice after there was an outcry,

You could just smooth talk your way, like these fine gentlemen:

Usually glib and nonconstructive criticisms like that are about themselves. There's something they don't like about themselves. Typically it's their own looks/behavior, then they project that onto another person.

Brittney Cooper said it best "Black women are the most hyper-visible yet invisible people." Everyone thinks they know us, but nobody really cares about our internal lives.

I am so, so sorry you experience such a violation. Yet, your resolve is remarkable.

Well, first consider how much stuff you really need. If you can get it within one large bag, getting out of the airport is definitely easier at baggage claim.

Having your clothes laid out early, several days before can help you narrow down how much you really need. I always like to leave a little extra room in my

I love that more than a few here recognize that even having a big butt means operating within unrealistic standards of beauty ( super-flat stomach, no hips, really thin thighs, no stretch marks or cellulite, etc.)

That's my feeling, too. I personally like dressing well for a flight. But I don't demand others do the same. What's offensive to me is that the headline has many defensive nodding heads. As though the appropriate answer to "Others should get dressed up for air travel" should be this extremist, "Fuck you, I'm dressing

Happened to me recently! Sat between two cute guys!

You may want to travel a little lighter. Flying can be more enjoyable if you pack light, and dress like you really want to enjoy your destination.

Yes! I think there seems to be an extreme idea of what "dressed up" means on this thread. It's not a three piece suit and monocle; full-length gown and stilettos! It's wearing something that is comfortable, and will get you through airport security quickly. There are many options under that umbrella besides something

It's not about what others think of you. It's about what you think of yourself. Believe me, getting dressed is a very personal thing. Pretending that it is not, is well, naive.

I was recently "upgraded." Meaning, I got one of the emergency seats on a very, very long international flight. The airline hadn't given me a seat number, so I just talked to one of the flight attendants about my concern with sitting next to a small child. Yes, it so happened that I had very little luggage, had all my

I don't think one should confuse asking for help from a man, getting an upgrade (happened to me once), or getting extra in-flight cookies (hey, I asked!) with manipulating the patriarchy.

I'm not gonna lie. I dress well for any flight. A comfortable-yet stylish-jumpsuit or wrap dress, flat sandals, hair up or down, a small carry-on with all my necessities for the flight, and a scarf. It's the very least I can give myself amidst the indignity of flying commercial.

As soon as that piano intro started, I just bent over with laughter. That is some ice-bucket-challenge cold shit.

Keep in mind that designing clothes are not just about the construction of individual garments. Designing is also about a whole collection; telling an entire story from start to finish. Since you get the story ("willowy girls in flowy fabric") this collection, I think, is telling the story it wants to tell.

Is that a keyhole? 'Cause if so, I want it. I always like excuses to show skin slits.
