I think it would last a few minutes. It’s not practical, but it is a replica of some magical video game sword, so I suppose we can suspend disbelief for a bit. Though yes, historical examples of swords with holes in the blade are lacking for a very good reason.

It can be a 70/30 split and I’ll be happy. Progress of a step is still an step further than yesterday. I am an optimist, apparently. :)

If ‘s a systemic problem, them any company that ignores trying to make things better in favour of a little bit more profit bit deserves a little bit of blame. It’s my opinion, naturally, so it’s okay if we disagree. The fact that we can debate all of this is what’s amazing. :)

I like the two-thirds of it. Then it is your standard denouement of feel good accomplishment, happy ending vibes. Which is fine for the modern fairy tale, but for me, our world is in an original Grimm’s Fairy Tales story and the ending is dark and gloomy right now.

It did need a bit more Fury Road. I was hoping that there would have been the scene of tom Hardy nodding after he tells Furiosa his name is Max. That simple moment of finally giving something personal, and his obvious anxiety over it with the gestures and looking around would have been a good fit right before the

Hoth Leia is great. I had one, long ago. Female action figure with blaster? Better than Barbie. Plus Han Solo makes a better boyfriend for a doll/figure than Ken does. He also has a cool blaster. Seriously, this whole targeting these toys just for boys is so wrong. Ladies like laser rifles too.

I have decided to focus on my martial arts for now. I’m poor enough without expensive RPG books to sort through. If I ever climb out of the chasm, I’ll put Pathfinder on the list, probably in second spot below Dungeon World. Enough people have recommended it that it is worth a lookie look. :) thanks!

I prefer historical fiction to speculative sci-fi for reading but this may get me to peek into a new genre. :)

I am half way through the first episode and I think I might be hooked. I do like that they not only deal with gravity, air supply, water, etc, but that we see some good effects and get discussion of it. I have not read the books but I will certainly wtch this show because it makes me feel like it could happen. I am

Oh yes. Uncontrolled thrust in a drill and bad things happen! We’re studying Medieval German staff right now where I train and we often receive a reminder with just a quick hit to the gym floor that makes quite the sound echo about. The staff is underestimated as a weapon. I blame role playing games for that.

This was a fantstic way to end my day. The Winter Soldier was my favourite of all the Marvel movies so far (I’ve enjoyed them all) and this has that same feel of action and suspense, based on this trailer. I am excited.

Exactly. Look at the NRA in current U.S. Politics: wuite vocal and doing a lot to ensure guns stay. Socially, people will hide things, stockpile things, do their best to keep that power.

Fair enough. Being a super duper martial artist takes effort and is useless against a squad of trained soldiers with assault rifles (as a martial arts student of many years I know this to be true) so the barons being strict over control would make sense.

Sociologically, there are those who will risk death and keep weapons that provide power or even enable terror. That’s why it’s a show where we suspend disbelief. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s why we watch programs. As long as we see it for fiction and not potential prophecy, I think it’s a good thing.

If motorcycles work, someone will have projectiles figured out. Gas powered automatic crossbows, flame throwers, etc.

After four years of historical fencing aka HEMA, it’s clear that most melee combat needs dexterity first and strength second. Trying to filter reality into a few dice rolls isn’t going to work. Then the whole issue with bows, well, Gygax strikes again. I have learned to be calm when faced with the errors of rpgs and

Different power for different targets. Poison is an effective addition. With lightly armoured opponents, a low draw and ability to fire fast is supremely effective. Charging masses of French knights, maybe a bit more power. Everything for its time and place.

Arrows do take a bit of time to make, and aren’t as simple as glueing feathers to a pointy stick. There were english regulations for arrows, involving types of feathers, and the fletching does take some skill. There’s winding of the thin string around them as well, and having the feather fletching be in the right

I’d like to add advice, based on my studies and experience. Such as: swords are not heavy, and bows require a lot of strength, and the one who can close the distance quicker (longer weapon) has the advantage.

I know, but still, I have the usual mix of feelings around anything related to anything Fox. I’ll get over it. ;)
