Given the number of names Arya is going to have as we go along, a rhyme or derivative for Asha would have been easy! And Ash, hey she is a Greyjoy, ashes are grey, that would have made too much sense. :)

And 90% is a lot better than most shows, so I guess we'll just have to live with it if it means the show entertains us as much as the books! And I don't remember anyone saying Osha though maybe it was said once or twice.

So you're saying the execs at HBO have an evil plan to confuse all of us who are dedicated to the books as well as the show?

The public has yet to earn thwir credit with me, but I do agree. People will sort it out. We should have more faith in people and let them live up to it instead of having no faith and letting them wallow in mediocrity. Sigh.

Right, right. I love that there's such a cast in the atory but I'll never remember them all. Well, Yasha sounds different enough from Osha, and in the mists of history, dialects and accents can explain away such things to the comfort of fans. But we'll live with Yara I suppose.

And this is the first message in the Asha versus Yara discussion. It has to happen. Each project has a group of camp followers who love to debate endlessly, right?

One of my good friends saw the show on HBO and is reading the books as a result. She said that she is amazed that a book could be translated to TV so well. I agree. It just looks like it is all real. Of course she says she now dreams in Westeros. :)

How will they learn to stop behaving that way if we don't give them new options and new role models? I say let them come and let's show them that there's a big and exciting world of sic-fi and fantasy out here.

Think of it this way: if you post a Twilight article or update, and the Twi-hard fans see it in Google or whatever search engine is used, they'll come visit the sight. Then they might see something else that interests them, say, Doctor Who or Game of Thrones or news about new series this Fall on television. Now you've

I for one welcome our new dolphin overlords. :)

The simple solution is to lengthen the name. Start with Asha but give her a longer full name. We know Ned is really Eddard, so maybe Asha is the nickname for Asharia or something like that. But really, one thing Martin plays with in the books is how the stories characters tell after the fact, through rumors spread

You mention the helium leak and high pitched voices like it's a bad thing! Everyone with silly voices? We'd be laughing a lot more and fighting a lot less.

Like Tripps said, some rocks are worth slightly more. We have geologists searching for all sorts of valuable tidbits on Earth, yes, but why not expand it to look next door? Okay oil companies have the most disposable income for this and they won't find petroleum on a space rock, but diversify before the oil market

There has to be some coalition of mining companies that would kick in the cash to go check it out and see if it's worth tearing it open and sending home the treasures hidden there. Especially when there's the chance that it's leftover from the start of the solar system. There are, what, 1,400 employees NASA isn't

Battleship seems a horrible idea for a movie, as based on the game. But let the big movie studios waste their money and fail. So long as we get ten more episodes of GoT next Spring, I won't be too miffed about having garbage in the theaters. Hopefully I'll finish Dance with Dragons by then! I've finally become an

All I noticed today was a lot of blah blah blah delayed this and that, and Game of Thrones is filming again. And now I shalll do a little dance as if I were in motley and playing at some Mummers' Farce. :)

IE7.0.57X? My office is stuck with IE6. still! But I feel your pain. The glory of an iPad and wireless work login are the only things keeping me from ripping my worrk PC into tiny chunks and feeding it into the recycling bin. Employers. Giving us the access to the net, but not the tools to properly view it. Sigh.

So this is a "if you want peace, prepare for war" development, and then the war happened and it forged a new dynamic. I guess that war does bring about civilization in many ways. Or at least changes it for a new model, bringing along new technologies and customs. I am interested in what will come out of those

40 sounds good, 80 sounds crazy. Besides, armor wise, Valkyries are supposed to go with the less is more theory, right? But I do like the idea of feeling like I could fly. I might need a winged helmet at some point. :)

My friends in the fire department keep telling me that they'd love an older female recruit and if I just wear those weight vests for a month I'll pass the dreaded carry the hose up the stairs test. Sounds like your trainer is wise in many ways. I don't think I'll join the fire department any time soon but I might
