The total disregard for the law is appalling. But the cops also completely ignore the fact that she was potentially protecting the life of a burn victim who was not even a suspect in a crime but a victim. Introducing a needle stick into a burn victim’s skin (or lack thereof) is not proper protocol for a burn patient

He spends several minutes trying to explain to her why he’s right, and his argument boils down to “I know the law and you’re telling me no, so you’re being arrested.” And that dipshit doesn’t know the law because no matter how you present it, it is an illegal search to take blood from someone, without their consent,

That was insidious and a TOTAL perversion of the “poisoned tree” legal argument. Police are NEVER supposed to collect illegal evidence that is there to protect people for the times they do anyway. He was trying to make it sound like, because that was there, police should be free to intentionally collect illegal

And those civil remedies are paid with taxpayer money. The cops will certainly not be paying a dime out of their pay.

Wait, wait, wait! In all of this, I still haven’t heard what happened to the nurse? Where is she? Is she still in jail? If not, when was she released?

A little off topic, but it’s something I always find funny. The people who harp on the 2'nd amendment and the right to bear arms and how important it is that we hold the constitution sacred in this regard are NEVER the ones who speak out in situations like these when someone’s rights are violated.

She’s a hero as far as I’m concerned. Although, to be honest I feel that way about most nurses in general.

Ive been thinking for a while that the only way out of this would be some sort of mandatory national service for everyone. Sort of like Israel’s, except not specifically just for military service. You should have the option of going military, or police, or fire, or some other social service.

No, not one of them did. They all stood by and watched. The only people who tried to help appeared to be other hospital staff.

That’s because backing up your fellow officers trumps all, even the law. Break that unspoken rule for ANY reason and you’re no longer a cop.

The literature is pretty clear at this point, the ‘bad apples’ theory has been completely discredited in favor of the ‘bad barrels’ theory.

They believe they can break the law because they can.

“Yeah there might be a lawsuit, but the taxpayers pay for that so who cares?” - the cop, probably.

i’m sure the police don’t think they are the bad guys. doesn’t change the fact that they act out of self-preservation (keeping their jobs) no matter what that means they have to do. the mental gymnastics they go through to convince themselves they are the good guys doesn’t change the fact that they are the bad guys...

Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s true. Nobody looks in the mirror and sees the villain of their life’s story. These people have been convinced, or convinced themselves that they’re the good guys, and even if they have to break a few rules from time to time, it’s for the greater good- that’s what makes them so

They guys who are too fat/out of shape/dumb to be cops(which is pretty amazing given the people that get to be cops) and have to settle for being rent-a-cops are often even worse than normal cops, because they have a giant chip on their shoulder.

That civil remedy where the Defendant sues the cop, the hospital and the nurse. The last two do not have immunity.

The Constitution has had the weight of a wet sheet of toilet tissue in the past when authorities and governments had decided it was so. The people remained silent because they benefited directly or indirectly from the actions taken. They’ve been brought up before, and those who either understand this or refuse to

Further into the video after she is in the car, another cop who I assume is a supervisor is explaining to the nurse how its no big deal if the cops break the law and take the blood illegally, that there are civil remedies for afterwards that will fix the situation, that if the cops broke the law anything that comes

“after refusing to violate hospital policy”
