these misconceptions need to stop! the $47 million was for Shenmue Saturn, Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 as well as future assets... assets I might add that Sega are letting Yu use... thats $47 million for 3 games (1 was scrapped, so 3 games over 3 consoles over two generations) so $10 mill as well as the other funding

It looked like the Dreamcast version to me - it was a brilliant machine

By the way... here is a tweet in regards to sony’s involvement on the project

Well this is the problem we have - there lots of people who believe the Kotakus, the Polygons etc etc when if you look deep down there is conflicting information everywhere and the Kotakus and the polygons are not really doing any new articles in regards to it when new information is brought to our attention, such as

But the post from Insoaras is again filled with what could be nonsense, based on mis guided information, speculation and assumtion. but let us break down the post shall we...

I admit its a stretch but by no means it might be what happens - no where has it ever been confirmed that it is indeed coming to the playstation - and people are just jumping to that conclusion thanks to mis information reporting.... ie Microsoft say they didnt buy the franchise outright and the deal has a duration

From what I understand there is actually a playable build of the Saturn Shenmue somewhere in Sega Vaults - I cant remember where I read this but if I do I’ll source

Its been starred because despite it being a link to a single comment on a message board - its more than that. It is actually a translation of an interview with Yu Suzuki taken from the most recent famitsu -

They didnt say it was timed, they said it had a duration... theres a big difference. They have not confirmed the duration is a length of time... it could be duration of 1 game. Ie i didnt buy the franchise outright the deal has a duration, for the duration of RotTR release in fact, like we did with Splinter Cell

No they actually dont - yes I know the numbers have been off putting to many publishers, many developers for the last 15 years... but the numbers from 15 years ago have not stopped this being a kickstarter success - the demand in there not just from nostalgic fans who want the story to end but from people who are just

You can quote all the facts and figures for a game from 1999 you want... they dont mean much in this day and age... lets break this down, the cost for Shenmue was high for the time yes... but the game broke new ground, had an engine developed from scratch, had mounds of r and d done but most importantly was the ost of

Clearly, but I dont think you ever go into Kickstarter asking for everything you need - $2 Mil is just bare basic what he either needed to top up what ever funds he has... or what he needed to prove to Sony what demand was - Anybody who thought there was gonna be a straight up game from $2mil alone is well wrong

I can just imagine someone there shaking there head “no no no. ths isnt right! we have been telling them for years they want! they have never wanted Shenmue just more Sonic - its just a blip dave, put Shinig Force IV back into storage!!”

Shenmue was one of only 6 games to sell more than a million copies - this on a console that only sold 10.6 million - thats 1 in 10 users owning a copy! That is a better pick up rate than MGS2 which had 1 copy for every 22 PS2’s - it wasnt Shenmue that killed Sega, due to bad choices dating well back to the genesis era

They are not claiming to be able to make the game for $2mil though - its subtle and I think if more people new about it we’d be pushing $4mil now - but clearly the higher the amount made the better it an be - the video itself suggests 3 towns, yet only one is mentioned so far on the stretch goals -

Have you seen the price of the games now? They shot up overnight! I think the last I checked - you were looking at $145 for 1 and 2 spread over both DC and Xbox or $250 for both on DC - here in the UK, £105 ($166) for both on DC and Xbox or £250 ($395) for both DC -

Clearly they didnt, otherwise they wouldnt have sat so long doing naff all with Shenmue III - if rumours and speculation are to be believed Sega have not only been sat on gigbites worth of assets for the future Shenmue series but ports of 1 and 2 for a while -there has got to be someone at Sega at the moment thinking

It may be time to move on, Beyond Good & Evil fans.

I just kinda grew more accustomed to the Tales games, though my interest in them has seriously dropped as well

Haha cool - I havent seen or played the FFXV demo - wow my Final Fantasy interest has seriously dropped. Damn you FFXIII!!
