Sure do love all the perfect parents in this comment section who have never, ever fucked up, not even once. Not even when they are tired, or stressed, or sick, or overworked or running on fumes.

You’re right, accidents ONLY ever happen to stupid people. They never happen to someone who’s exhausted, stressed, depressed, bipolar, or distracted. Nope, only “shitty parents.” You really nailed this with your incredibly hot, boring take.

Dude, read the fucking WP article linked here. It’s not about intelligence or even parenting skills. It’s a neurological hiccup that can happen to anyone, including you. You aren’t a superior parent. If you can’t even learn the subject before popping off IN ALL CAPS, you aren’t really a superior anything.

Congrats to all of the perfect parents in the comments.  Every parent who has had this happen didn’t think they needed a reminder, either.

This is nothing new, if you are wondering where you get off, you should have gotten off a few decades ago.

It simply will not happen.

How do you think I got to this story?

For me it was that article Michelle linked to. I read it when it came out and it was powerful. None of the parents in that story thought it could happen to them and many were these uber-organized types that never forget anything. Do I really think it could happen to me? Not in a million years. But reading about the

I mean...maybe? But you’re talking about two different things—short term memory/distraction/routine and driving. They could be directly related. They may not be.

What makes you think this couldn’t happen to you? Oh, because you’re not a shitty parent huh? We can’t imagine this happening to us, but it happens often enough to a diverse enough group of people that I believe it could happen to anyone. Anyone that suddenly had a lot more work and stress placed on them. This is the

I don’t think the writers choose the headlines. Frida Garza’s Post was very subtle and nuanced in its evaluation of the situation, while the title is sort of inaccurate.

Oooooohhh, the nearly ironic use of the word *natural* as it pertains to the beauty industry. In my former city, I went to a salon that rented spaces to various beauty fields. For a while there was an aesthetician/makeup artist next door to my hair person. She told some memorable stories about people coming in

As a teacher...no. I completely disagree.
But we SHOULD be teaching it in ADDITION to literature.

Yeah also Rihanna is a straight up knockout on another level from mere mortals. Her weight barely grazes the surface of what she’s got going on. I’ve got stretch marks, curves and a belly. It’s not heroic. It’s the human body.

Train now arriving at station stop: Uncanny Valley

I’ll tell the truth: I’ve always wanted to have one professional photo done that was ruthlessly, shamelessly altered until I look like what I always thought I should, given some fantasy genetic redo, torturous workout routine, professional makeup, etc. Just to have it in some form, you know?

I have a modest makeup. I rarely use filters because I want to show what it is like to be real and my age. Sometimes, I’ll use a filter for fun or because it looks artsy, and when I do, I always call myself out for it in the caption. Usually the caption goes a little like, “This isn’t fooling anyone, but..”

We are rapidly moving into hyperrealism and Baudrillard’s nightmare predictions concerning the simulacra, where the symbol becomes more desirable than the object it represents. This trend will only accelerate as technology continues to advance, driven in part by this fetishization of the hyperreal - i.e. it’s

A few years ago I decided enough was enough and stopped buying magazines, stopped looking at “fitness inspo” online, and have purposely avoided the Instagram celebrity culture. Looking at a magazine recently filled with ad campaigns, I was pleasantly shocked to realize not only how much less I buy into this shit, but

Looking at celebrity close-ups makes me feel better about both my skin AND my makeup skills.  Perfection in either is unattainable!
