They cancelled Tuca and Bertie but funded this?

Never go full Ferengi.

I actually found this episode pretty satisfying, especially as we know it’s doing double-duty as a possible series finale. My biggest disappointment is that Bash hasn’t had to deal with any possible fallout from his earlier decision to extend the show without consulting with the cast. I feel like even needing the

To be fair, “horrendous misogynistic bullshit” describes a lot theatre (and cinema and art and music). I really hope it’s not a nasty bit of foreshadowing, but they didn’t pick that script out of nowhere.

Age does that to some people. Think how much Joni Mitchell’s voice has changed. Me, I knew when I was getting old when I could start singing in the same register as Nina Simone.

It was a very interesting choice that they went with the backing track for “Running Up That Hill.”

I feel like Carmen deserves an extra nod here for helping Cherry out with the mud wrestling. It’s the first time we see her without her t-shirt on that I can think of and that is a big deal. Even in the locker room/backstage areas, she’s wearing that big t-shirt, but she takes it off because she really doesn’t have a

The big age difference thing between male and female leads is sadly not an 80's thing (in movies or in real life). There are have been all kinds of posts written on the subject (link) and it’s one of the reasons I’ve been digging my heels in against Ruth & Sam.

And so telling for his character. He plays the nice guy until Debbie and Sam disagree with him and then he shows his true colors when they won’t just rubber stamp his call. (It also is a nice moment for Sam’s character to show that he’s not willing to do the Boys’ Club thing and side against Debbie because Bash wants

I really want to know how Tamme and Sheila decided to take an acting class together.

I didn’t love this episode despite some really great moments; I can’t quite put my finger on why, but it left a stale taste in the mouth. That said, this is probably the only 30-min show I can think of where I wish it were a full hour. The ensemble’s good enough and the characters are interesting enough to warrant it.

I feel exactly the same way about Sam and Ruth. I’m really, really hoping that after requisite stewing (‘cause you know Sam’s gonna sulk—and honestly, who doesn’t when you get turned down by someone you have a major thing for), he picks himself up and isn’t shitty to Ruth about it. Maron’s done a great job with the

I’m really surprised that they haven’t dropped the ban hammer on the account impersonating you yet; it says some pretty vile stuff.

Especially considering he’d already tried to kill himself once in there. My guess is they let this happen to protect the other high profile people who have been implicated. I’m extremely pissed.

On one hand, I’ve been so acculturated to be okay with “guys” for this to not even blip my radar, but I would love to see how men would react if people started using “gals” to refer to mixed gender groups. In the realm of fighting sexism, it’s very low priority, but it still does reflect our culture’s default-male POV.

I know the 90's were a long time ago, but is it just me or was smoky eye not a thing back then? I mostly recall mauve-brownish matte lips outlined in a brown much darker than the lip color as the most memorable make-up trend. Also super-pale eye shadow (which is sort of going on here, but minus the smoky eye).

What do you expect? He’s not a sociologist or public health researcher, although I guess he sometimes likes to play one on the internet.

A semantic easter egg for my fellow olds people of a certain age.

ALL OF THIS CO-SIGNED

I don’t know why, but I really don’t want to see Ruth and Sam together. Maybe because it’s too obvious? But I literally fist-pumped last season when she hooked up with the camera guy.
