If anything, it’s an argument for more episodes, and with a cast of characters (with excellent actresses), this more than any other Netflix original show I can think of, screams for a longer season.

I stuttered out halfway through season two. I really like Tulip and Cassidy, but despite my very personal reasons for enjoying anything that sends up the church + solid performances, count me as another who just couldn’t find anything compelling enough to keep watching. I guess I’m just not that interested in Jesse.

I love Roxanne and LA Story, but I read Shopgirl after it was first released when I myself was in my mid-20's and found it so deeply disappointing that I just haven’t had the heart to check out anything else new he’s done.

It is noticeable, but it manages not to seem creepy. (This is not to diminish Cher’s looks, but even today, seeing gray hair on an actress who is not playing an <blink>old</blink> mother or grandmother is pretty rare. I haven’t seen this in years and I think she eventually goes to a salon to get hair done because

It’s like the only mainstream movie I can think of off-hand where the female lead is older (visibly so and written as such) than her romantic male counterpart AND it’s not made into some big deal iirc.

The idea of Greg Kinnear as Glen makes me feel older than damn near anything else this week.

Aside from his sartorial perspective, while I can tell he’s trying, Tan definitely is not fully on the body positivity train. I genuinely hope he does get there, but he’s still got a ways to go.

She may have some serious character flaws, but lack of intelligence is not one of them.

Preferring sex without foreplay is just him using her body to masturbate, which is pretty f’d up. I get not being into BDSM, but dismissing her requests to shake things up in the bedroom as “too complicated” (and there are lots of non-BDSM things that they could do) absolutely implicates him having a shitty attitude

It’s such a f’n shame media and the fashion world won’t show us women who age naturally and show it in the various ways. It’s a different kind of beauty, but it’s compelling in its own right.

And reading the diaries of some of those colonizing churchmen is bloodchilling. I recall reading a passage written by...I can’t recall if it was Junipero Serra himself or just one of his flunkies at one of the missions, but the way they openly document how they tortured the indigenous peoples is one of the most

I’m glad she’s getting recognized now while she can deservedly bask in the accolades. Apparently she’s great to work with, too: a friend of mine crewed her one-woman show a number of years back and had nothing but good things to say about her.

What the actual...DC? DC?!? Are they following the tech bro lobbyists? I wouldn’t be surprised. RIP, Bay Area.

They didn’t want to instigate a case of three-fer madness.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it (like first run long time), but I’m pretty sure Annie Potts’s character isn’t anyone’s mother. I’m interested to see if this holds up and if it’s going to be like Golden Girls where half the jokes went over my head.

Especially because deGrasse Tyson is wrong, which I guess is like peak bad nerd.

Yeah, this and the team tapped to do the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy project just seem...odd...given their past work, particularly the latter as I think I saw one comedy credit between the both of them when I looked at IMDB.

I’m still reeling over South City having a Philz Coffee. SOUTH f’n CITY. WTF.

Airbnb, too. I grew up on the Peninsula but live on the East Coast now. A guy at work got a place in a meh part of South San Francisco for $160/night. SOUTH CITY. I get it—much cheaper for a family and easily BARTable into SF, but this is the sort of thing that means I can probably never go home again unless I move

Seeing as I’m stuck with Comcast as my ISP, I wouldn’t hate this provided I don’t have to rent a frickin’ box from them to get it.
