One place I’ll agree with Sandra Lee is that, in almost all instances, boxed cake mix is the way to go. You can boost its flavor and texture by using milk (or if you have it, buttermilk is BOMB) 1 for 1 in place of the water. Add an extra egg, and a splash of vanilla. Beat for a bit longer than is called for in the

Hah, thanks. I should have been an aesthetician in a different life—I have so much fun with that kind of creative outlet.

As did I. With her appeal and that iconic hair, I wouldn’t be surprised if this came to fruition.

Hahaha, I like this take.  And his ego was just like, “YES. Of course.”

I will grudgingly admit that Bradley Cooper was better than I thought he’d be in the role. His singing is respectable. But having him sing a duet with Lady Gaga put their singing abilities into such stark relief, I *almost* felt bad for him. Then I read this and my eyes rolled so far back into my head that I have only

This is EXACTLY where my brain went as well.

That’s wonderfully bizarre.  If you ever figure out the origins of that name, please come back and post it here!  My mom has seen it called “Rosemary Spoonbread,” which is the bougie version.

There is an unlikely gem or two in each of those Midwestern church/school cookbooks. For me, it’s Corn Casserole from my elementary school recipe book.  It’s basically a corn souffle made from whole kernel and creamed corn (canned), a box of Jiffy cornbread mix, egg, sour cream and butter. (Low cal is not a trend in

Mad at myself for failing to post this yesterday.

I am, for sure. Light face makeup, a little bronzer to give my face some life and dimension (Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer shout-out!), fill in brows a bit, mascara. I’ll add a little eyeliner wing if I’m feeling crazy.

Fun comparing notes today!  Virtual cheers, and here’s hoping we both make it back there sooner rather than later!

Nice. My stepson is 14 and is currently too cool for the rest of us, and for life itself. It will kill him when we take over the tv for a cheesy sing-along. I for one can’t wait.

People who are shaming celebs for “seeking attention,” etc... look away!  I’ll bet a ton of kids and their parents LOVED seeing Bey on there.  In fact, I forgot it was last night, and will be looking for it on-demand later to watch with my kids.  Thanks for the PSA, Jez!

I have a lot of Portugal left to explore, but got a crash course on its wines during a short trip there last year, including an incredible food and wine walking tour in Lisbon. The Alentejo reds were a stand-out favorite, and I’ve always been a fan of the Duero/Duoro region.

This, exactly—silver linings. Even amidst dealing with clients who have all gone crazy, 3 kids who are stir-crazy and getting on each other’s nerves, grappling with distance learning and my own underlying anxiety, I’m so incredibly thankful that it’s spring and we live in a place where our kids can run and play

ADORABLE!  Thanks for the share.

Love Vinho Verde, and lord, do I love Portugal.  I also learned that they don’t export much of their best wine, so you have to go there to enjoy (and boy, did I).

The world is a funny place sometimes. Just this week, there was (quite randomly) a story in the NYT about Megan Rapinoe’s skincare routine, and in it she mentioned she had a twin. For some reason, I found myself wondering afterward about her twin—was she like, an office worker with a conservative bob? Were they

Beverly Cleary and Ramona are the reasons I once asked my grandma, in total seriousness, if the (desiccated) pot roast she was serving us was tongue.
