Did she die because she hit her head? Because if so... :(
Did she die because she hit her head? Because if so... :(
I so so so want there to be positive, non-sarcastic, non-insane representation of Paganism in popular culture... but I'm thinking Real Housewives are not gonna be it.
Hey all. I just need to vent. So, I just moved to Florida (no judgements!) from WI. I was supposed to move down with my fiance, who dumped me 2 days before the move. He claimed the reason is that he's gay. I no longer buy that. He wound up lying to me about so many things. He owes me $2,000, $750 of which was stolen…
I just got done treating my cat for toxoplasmosis. Turns out it was not toxoplasmosis. The vet found a tumor in his mouth that wasn't easily spotted just 2 and a half weeks ago and it's bleeding. Treatment seems unlikely to help as this appears to be very aggressive. He'll probably be making his final trip to the vet…
Meds can help a lot... I see a therapist and a doctor, who tried a few different things with me before we settled. I don't know if your symptoms are more mental or physical, but I used to get some significant physical symptoms from anxiety including a racing heart that made me feel like I was going to die. My doc put…
Try different times and different instructors to see if you can find a better vibe. I would also ask when they tend to be less busy and go then if you possibly can - if the class is less crowded the instructor may be able to help you more, particularly if you let her know you are new when you get there?
I had incapacitating anxiety - I know how it feels when you are just convinced you are going to have a full blown panic attack at the damn grocery store s0 you run out of ALL toilet paper in the house. Three things worked for me - 1) a nightly ritual of warm baths, candles, journaling and deep belly breathing…
I'm sorry you're going through this. I definitely know how it feels.
I don't know what your financial/insurance situation is, but I'd recommend trying out a few therapists before you decide it's not for you. Some therapists just give terrible advice. Some give great advice, but don't seem to gel. They're like…
I had a similar experience when I tried a barre class—I felt enormous compared to all the super-toned suburban moms, and I have the unfortunate tendency to go beet red if I do anything even resembling exercise (this is why I was a swimmer for so many years—water calmed the redness). That being said, this was your…
So I am a bit mortified to say this but I'm 21 and I've never been in a relationship. There was only one time where I came close to being in one but that was four years ago, I'm feeling a bit stupid about the fact I've never had a boyfriend and I'm in my last year and a half of college. My best friend has had a…
My husband's friend teaches Pure Barre, and from the way he describes it, each instructor has quite a lot of liberty to design the class however he or she likes. It's possible that you'll find an instructor that clicks better with you; some instructors believe that differentiation is very important, but some don't…
So I'm having a Saturday night in as well, and probably should not being opening that bottle of wine. But I have taken cardio barre classes and they are so incredibly hard, and I'm one of those types that looks like a dancer but trust me I'm too busy trying not to pass out and keep from my legs from shaking out of…
A few years ago my cousin and I were chatting and the subject of domestic violence came up. Twice I had been hit by boyfiends (insanely appropriate typo) and so I Knew All About It. I expressed the opinion that if a woman stuck around after the first time, she deserved it. This opinion was informed by the privilege…
The first time I took a Cardio Barre class, I had to lie down because I was literally going to pass out. The second time, same. And I was a dancer. Those classes can be hard and it does take some acclimating if the instructor is really intense. But it got easier!
Hey Jezzies,
Weekend posts can now go back to being my favorite posts, because YAY BURT!
I was going to make a post about how my kids drove me insane today and I am counting the minutes until they go to bed (18 at the moment). That's when my almost 2 year old came up, sat by me with a blanket and said "night!" looking all angelic. It's like she knew I was going to post about her hellish behavior of…
I'm not sure how your adult friends are totally obsessed with princes and princesses, but I know my fascination comes from more of a critical standpoint. What I mean by that is, I love Tangled not because "yay another disney princess!" but because Disney had started to redefine gender stereotypes for girls. Besides…
More than any controversy over "princessification", sexualization, and other overused, made-up words, I think the more interesting debate here is role models for girls: who is allowed to be one, what an "acceptable" image is, and what girls can expect as a healthy alternative to a potentially unhealthy image.
