The time-based system is one of the things that made the original so great. It takes effort and ingenuity to design a game based around a time constriction. Restriction breeds creativity. It's one of the things that made other games like Majora's Mask (which also came from Miyamoto) and Dead Rising so great as well.
The product features don't say whether this adds the extra set of shoulder buttons as well.
