Chevy small block making odd noises, light grinding. AH, I says tenage me, replace the water pump, because it is leaking a little. Do so. Test drive the car. Engine temp goes up, oil pressure goes down and before I can pull over the engine siezes.

The oil pump shaft was coming apart. It did and then the engine couldn’t.

There was an F14 test bed at Pax River in the 70s that had a rocket mounted backwards on one wing. It was part of an effort to design a way out of flat spins. Interesting times, the Iranian F14s were there atr the same time, desert camo and all.
