I came by to basically try as diplomatically as possible say what you said. I mean really, you have to be pretty involved in car culture (as an american) to know the difference. You did a good job of not sounding like an asshole though.

They’ve shown scenes in the trailer and set photos that say he isn’t dead. There is an image of him talking to Ani with his stomach wrapped in bandages. There’s also a scene of him in a vest with Ani. Unless they really committed to to making this character’s death a surprise he’ll be in more than just flashbacks.
