And as I always remind Americans, you don’t have enough exposure to Canada and Canadian culture to really understand us. The entire political spectrum in the US is shifted to the right compared to Canada. Barack Obama, one of your most left-leaning Presidents, had similar political beliefs to Stephen Harper, one of

Except, Uber actively, and proudly, flaunts laws. If a company wants to change the rules, great, give it a shot. But to actively ignore them is wrong.

I live in Alberta. Although more conservative than other parts of Canada, we’re not about to throw out regulation for no reason.

I wasn’t referring to vehicle regulations at that point. I’ve spoken to people from ‘Murica who want the FDA shut down. That’s what I was referring to when I made my point about how anti-regulation you nuts are.

I’ve never been to Atlanta, nor do I live in the US. I guess taxi companies in Canada are better because all of the taxis in the city I live in are less than 10 years old.

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. When Uber first tried starting up in the city years ago they pulled out because city council insisted they comply with some regulations. Guess what those regulations were. Council wanted Uber to ensure their driver’s were licenced as commercial drivers, passed criminal background

Great idea! Let’s get rid of those pesky regulations that say things like the driver’s need to be properly licenced and insured. Let the free market decide what’s safe and what’s not, amirite?

In Canada, if a truck driver is caught over their hours they get a hefty fine and/or have their truck impounded, depending on how far over they are. While most drivers push the envelope a bit, none of them push it too far. My dad’s been a truck driver since about 1980 so I grew up in the industry.

All of those vary by jurisdiction. Where I live, most of those people do qualify for overtime. Truck drivers are exempt because they’re legally barred from working that many hours in a day. We have pretty stringent safety requirements in Canada for our commercial drivers.

Also, if I recall correctly there is a minimum salary that needs to be met before a job can be exempt.

The youtuber Thunderf00t does a good job debunking the “science” behind the hyperloop.

As long as I’m in a place where I don’t have to actively worry about money from paycheck to paycheck, I’m a happy camper.

So you’re trying to paint me as a racist now, eh? I’m hardly such. I have no problem with people who are black. I have problems with people who act like thugs or ghetto, and that includes white thugs or ghetto wanna-be white people. I don’t judge people on the colour of their skin but by how they act/behave.

Whatever you say, you ghetto twat. If it helps you sleep at night, all the better.

You’re not very smart, are you? If you didn’t notice, my post included a question mark. Therefore, although I made an assumption, it was open for clarification. Also, making assumptions is most definitely NOT the definition of straw man.

Congratulations. You’re completely out of touch with the average person. What are you bringing to this discussion?

People with an anti-cop, thug mentality don’t ever realize this.

straw man

Can’t argue his point so you nitpick his grammar?
