Money buys impunity. Despite what most people think, we’re not all equal under the law.

All that shows is how horrible regulations are for everything else. It’s hardly praise to say that.
Yes, heaven forbid someone stand up for a clearly distraught mother and her children. You can’t say for certain what he did or did not witness. The video doesn’t show the actual event happening. He could have seen everything unfold.
There was absolutely no reason to bring race into this.
Minding one’s own business isn’t a good thing when one sees someone actively being abused. That’s how bullying and intimidation are allowed to continue. How many bullying victims have killed themselves because an onlooker just minded their own business?
Dual function! The battleship shall transform into the battle wagon!
Unless it’s the Ford Class or the F-35 then money be damned.
In my opinion, the Iowa class has had her day. Time to design something new but let’s be inspired by her awesomeness.
No one has suggested that they would replace carrier-based aircraft. The aim would be to compliment.
I still have yet to hear you give an argument that refutes mine. You have not demonstrated that the US military cares about the cost of its shiny new toys.
As stated by other commenters in this thread, upcoming developments in rail gun technology will make battleships more viable again and vastly increase their range.
So what you’ve just so un-eloquently said was once they sink a certain amount of money into something they keep barreling ahead, cost be damned.
Am I? Why is the Navy pushing the new Ford class carriers and the F-35 then? It sure seems like they want them both, cost be damned.
Huh. I’m the first born in my family. I wonder how I managed to come out so good if my raising was such a crap shoot.
I hear the procedure can be done with lasers these days.
The US Navy has never been all that concerned about procurement costs for their new shiny toys in the past.
If designing a new battleship from scratch it would be easy to add automation to reduce the amount of crew required. The cost for shells would be a lot lower if they are actively producing a class of ships.
I wholeheartedly support this construction effort.
I can’t help but think that it would be far cheaper to lob shells rather than launch cruise missiles if all you want to accomplish is indiscriminant bombardment.
In my experience most car manuals recommend premium. I think they do that on purpose. Hell, my Honda Civic’s manual says regular is fine but they recommend premium.
