Good on JPL for doing this. I'm pretty certain the JSC robotics guys are kicking themselves right now.

You make some very good points, but even with what you've said, as a straight woman I can't play this game. And that's sad, because I actually do want to play a fantasy throwback sidescroller. On the other hand, I don't think Vanillaware should have to change the style to cater to people like me. They don't want my

Final Fantasy IX had one of the worst art styles I've ever seen. I can't actually play it. I know most people love it and love the game but I just can't even start.

I didn't grow up on Final Fantasy, or in fact any Japanese games, and I personally think that the series really is having problems. Each game becomes less and less of an RPG and more and more a 3D anime with interactive bits. Some of the games save face by having very open worlds, or good characters, or good stories,

This is very true. So much of my career thus far as an engineer has been spent working under limitations that the few projects I've had without even a prompt have been obscenely difficult. It's very easy to try and include the kitchen sink when it's just unnecessary.

Not to you, but to me it really does. He actually made it worse than the crappy ones you can buy online. Just once I'd like to see a proper purple hilt with harshly geometric wings. And the fuller was completely unnecessary.

Glad to be of service.

I can't help myself sometimes, this is what engineering does to a perfectly ordinary gamer.

I think you're making the grave mistake of assuming that stabbing is better for punching through armor (it isn't; when you stab, you aim for an unprotected area, which is why later stabbing weapons like rapiers had such thin blades) and assuming that holding a hand-and-a-half sword with both hands means grabbing above

From the point of view of the actual physics of the blades, the four that aren't WW are functionally identical. All have an elongated ricasso, that flares out to the main blade. All of them are hand-and-a-half swords with broad blades meant primarily for slashing and a tip that can be used for stabbing in a pinch. All

I game on PC for mods, ease of access to other programs, controller choices, weird inputs, and Steam sales. Oh, and it's cheaper than updating consoles, weirdly enough. Only time I've had graphics troubles with my 4 year old card was when I modded Skyrim with 20 HD armor compilation mods and an ENB without checking

I would like to point out that MRAs do have a few legitimate concerns, like circumcision and the draft, and that "feminism" as a word is not geared towards equality in any way. Egalitarianism is good. Let's strive for people being treated equally and given equal opportunities.

Technically, from Ocarina on, it's been purple. Even more technically, the design in SS/TP is the canon, correct design. Everything else has been retconned to match.

I find myself agreeing with you. Plus, that thing is fucking ugly. No where near the design of the Master Sword. I guess it's a bastardization of the Ocarina version, but it's not nearly as accurate as his other replicas. I knew I'd be disappointed when he did this one, but I didn't think he'd screw it up that badly.

I think you're missing the part where one is government sponsored and the other isn't.

I like it!

Need one of those parachutes from the egg drop projects we all did as kids.

If I may, I think the real issue might be that a lot of JRPGs aren't actually RPGs at all. There's no real role playing in any of them beyond your stat tree, in which case Borderlands and Skyward Sword should be RPGs. And those games most assuredly are not. The JRPG genre as a whole is a farce.

Link looked like a scene kid, Zelda thought that tiny knife would stop those weird shadow critteres, Ganon turned into Sephiroth, oh and the lead Hylian Knight looked like Buzz Lightyear. And that's not counting the littler details like none of the Hylian Knights bearing the shield or Link cross-drawing the sword

I really hope some big name game developers see this article and start thinking about how to use the Rift. This tech really is the future, but it needs more refined game code to work properly.
