I think it will be even more boring to watch if each podium consists of Mercedes and Racing Point.

I get that it’s generally your style of writing, but the snark here unfortunately comes across as ignorance of both the technical aspects and competitive practices of F1. Technically, of course teams are going to have loads of drawings of their brake ducts - good brake ducts are worth a few tenths per lap, between

Renault’s argument is that RP haven’t done that though.

Because this effectively gives Mercedes a team of 4 cars instead of 2 like everyone else. Imagine a situation where RP is in the position to win on outright pace, but Mercedes gives them the order to swap positions with Hamilton so he can get championship points and extend his lead instead. What is RP to do? They’re

From what I’ve read, RedBull would use this as an excuse to go back to making the same car for Alpha Tauri as they do for the top team (if RP is not found in violation). Granted, thats not much of a danger this season so far, but when RB get their act together, 4 of the same car on the grid could be stiff competition.

^^ Exactly This.

See, someone with any kind of feel for the sports regulations (or a general idea of how google works) should’ve probably known this before writing and posting an article on the pettyness of Renault.

I do not really think this is a case of Renault being “extremely” petty, but rather your typical F1 politicking in order to get the FIA to provide some clarification on something the FIA would be otherwise happy to ignore and let continue if nobody had complained.

2 points.

Do you really want to have a grid full of various aged Mercedes cars?

Renault isn’t the only team that wants this cleared up. Because if it isn’t then there’s every chance we’re in for 2 years of a team which made a blatant copy of the previous winning design joining with Mercedes to dominate the championship, due to the ban on significant changes next year. Not through innovation but

Have you seen the side by sides of 19 MB Vs 20 RP brake ducts? They look exactly the same, except the RP look like cheap Chinese knockoffs. Where the MB are smooth and precise carbon layups, the RP just look sloppy and thrown together, and have some cast metal components rather than carbon fiber. I won’t be surprised

They aren’t being petty, there is a chance the Tracing Point is illegal. Tracing Point is REQUIRED by the rules to design and build the brake ducts themselves or get them from a non competing supplier. They can copy Merc as long as it’s just looking at pics and designing their own version. If those brake ducts are

One of the commentaries I heard over the weekend (maybe Ted’s Notebook?) was that this weekend’s protest was a technicality. If no one protested and Racing Point were later found to be in breach, their results for the Hungarian Gran Prix would stand because no one protested them.

Rockets are hard to make and even worse to get to orbit.

Why? Why do we “need” to talk about Elon Musk’s pay? He started a company and its finding success. He’s getting paid for it. That’s how it works. Let’s talk about Erik Shilling’s pay. Or is that none of our damn business?

1) Source for that claim?

2) He wasn’t a kid. He was 20. Max Verstappen never intentionally crashed someone, called them racist names, texted while behind the wheel of a racecar, etc. Fabio Quarteraro has done no such thing. Seb Vettel did no such thing. Lebron James did not have scandals like this.

The kid is racist

Supporting Trump = supporting racism.

The only problem with this is when he was asked if he regrets his actions in Europe all you get is a “nope”. So it’s hard to believe he has grown, other than realizing he needs not to be such an ass hole all the time publicly.

So how did the vibration not kill the astronauts on top of the Saturn V??
