yikes

To ‘pour one out’ is generally in memory of someone who’s passed. So the title is a way of making fun of the management, not supporting them. The article itself, and Kotaku in general, tend to support the workers.

Um, did we read the same article...?

Some of the context might be lost for people who aren’t particularly plugged into the Melee community.

Aye, and it wasn’t enough of a good enough explanation for their actions. Things would have been very different, had Panda Global sought to coexist with other TO’s. The fact that they went after BTS - who are stable enough financially to withstand strongarm tactics, shows greed, ineptitude, or both on their part.

comments from unlikeable weirdos are always the best.

I am far more sad for your reading comprehension

Panda has released a statement today. It was as insubstantial as Nintendo’s. Three paragraphs of pretty much nothing, addressing almost nothing.

That is, if you ignore the last 20 years. No tournament every run before the Panda Cup has ever been licensed by Nintendo. It has always been a mutual understanding that ‘we do our stuff and you do yours’. In fact, if you read the initial statement by SWT, it states that they had been in talks since April with

Just for logistics reasons, it would be too late.

It sounds like you haven’t actually read any of the statements by SWT. They were in talks since April with Nintendo who led them by the nose, saying ‘it will be fine’. Then, right before Thanksgiving they told SWT - in writing! - that they will need a license to run the tournament, and that Nintendo would not grant a

Nintendo Cares, you made them care guys! /s

I’m not sure if kicking our scene in the dick over and over again is “caring” about us, but go ahead, Nintendo.

I honestly believe GameFreak gets away with it just because this is Pokemon. Because of course, who doesn’t love the idea of exploring the world and finding a Jigglypuff in the wild?

Dude, they could have avoided bugs and crashes, plenty of people do, but they’re absolutely not avoiding performance issues like massive framerate drops on a console game. The only way to get a steady framerate whenever there’s grass or shit in Scarlet/Violet is to play it on the Steam Deck.

We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games’ performance.

If you’re gonna trot out the Italian bonafides, why not mention that Pratt isn’t Italian American? It’s kinda weird that I’m reading defensiveness from Italians (you’re not the only one) who don’t like Martinet’s stereotypes but say *nothing* about alternatives to Pratt. You think Martinet is not representative? Okay!

Nah. I don’t have to “see the whole thing” to pass judgment. That’s like, the whole reason a trailer exists: so I can judge whether or not the movie may be to my liking, without having to see the whole movie.

Why settle for fine when we could have fantastic? People should not defend average performances, the argument of “Well it could have been worse.” is piss poor. Because while it most certainly could be worse it could have just as easily been better.

Another one of these articles means it’s time for all the weirdos to log on and explain how Nintendo “has every right to protect their IP and who even cares about this old game anyway?”
