It’s also pretty absurd to lump all the different forms of culture and governance that span that 1000+ years into a single, simple category, and act like nothing has ever changed.

Counterpoint, the country certainly is fucking itself and this sort of thing can realistically lead to a downfall. Not all of those 1000+ years looked that great.

Starfield, right? I’m hoping to see a trailer and release date at this year’s E3, even if it’s another warts and all Creation Engine game, because Fallout in space is like a dream come true for me.

I AM SOLD.

Because this keeps coming up despite being addressed in the article: the n-word is not in the original song. He added it in.

I wonder if Americans have some sort of condition where they must say the words “Free Speech” every 30 minutes or so? That is the only reason I can think of why it literally shows up in every discussion, no matter how irrelevant it is.

Free speech doesn’t enter into it one way or another. No part of this story involves the Government trying to abridge the first amendment rights of a citizen.

This has always been a problem with video games. Not just competitive video games — all of them.

This is a critical issue for me in raising my daughters. I have to tread lightly because if I push anything too hard they will very easily pick up on, and run with, my wife’s disdain for the whole genre.

That “shitty indie game” is actually great, was well received by critics and public, and ran great on all other platforms. They just dropped the ball with the Switch version.

If someone makes an honest careless mistake, that’s what’s called a “teachable moment”. But typically the instances you hear about through the outrage machine are obstinate people like this dev who are basically just venting their ugly politics daring people to be offended.

Because first of all, those things are very different. Social research shows no connection between violence in video games and real life violence, but there definitely is one between the portrayal of gender and people’s perception of women and sexuality in the real world. I don’t know why and researchers are trying to

Really? So when my girlfriend with PTSD and Panic Disorder starts uncontrollably beating her own head with her fists when she sees anything involving or thinks about rape, that’s just her victimizing herself? Even though after a panic episode is over, she is completely rational and always knows that she literally

Nice trolling but no. That’s not really how PTSD triggers work.

“Though I’d argue that it’s just stereotyping, as sexist requires explicit hate towards a gender, being a fantasy hero that saves the girl isn’t harming anyone.”

> Same level of sexism as mario.

Except it’s not the opposite? He’s literally saying, “My game isn’t sexist, but it does treat women as little more than sex objects and rewards for the male protagonists”, which is textbook narrative sexism.

How so very very “I’m not racist, but”

1: All games, hell all media is inherently political. The question just becomes how blatant it is and how much it reinforces or deviates from the status quo.
