To "do" minimalism well is very hard. Because there are so few elements, the qualities of each become far more important. The weight of the line, the color the proportion each grow in importance.

Just throwing around some coloured shapes isn't enough, like you say. It's a question of finding what are the core elements of the movie, or book, etc., the basest elements that are still recognizable as the property.

Ultron searches the web and learns about vibranium.
Apes are like farmers. They rise before dawn.
"Brand new boy's names included Rydder, Jceion, Hatch, Tuf, Lloyal, Xzaiden, Charger, Kyndle, Power, Warrior, Kaptain, Subaru, and Vice." Fuck all of those parents.
Gwyneth Paltrow was Rosemary in Shallow Hal. See, it all fits together.
Maybe because that book already gets tons and tons of love?
