I was reading the wankel wikipedia just yesterday oddly enough (trying to remember the name of the dorito shape, its Reuleaux triangle) and actually GM claimed to have “solved” longevity and fuel consumption issues but could not get emissions solved. Whether I believe them is another story.

5th gear, yep corona virus is already screwing North American production. I’ve got molds late, parts late, and honestly bullshit updates on when or if things are going back to normal. 100% chance of a global recession coming out of this.

Actually at least in the Peugeot engined cars German would be significantly better! I had a 2009 r56 bought new and it had reliability pretty much as good as a 1980’s GM car. Everything German was fine, no issues at all but that French motor was one failure after another from the day I bought it to the day I dumped it

Pfft, this doesn’t worry me, frankly barring driving for a hundred miles it won’t hurt your motor. Having gas in the diesel on the other hand is a dammed near instant death sentence for your motor. One of my Mercedes had this happen to the previous owner and the insurance claim was $25k.

Honestly maintenance free batteries started showing up mid late 80’s from my memory. On motorcycles wasn’t until 90’s.

You ever owned a Camaro? First gen had a decent trunk but first gens are too dammed expensive, second gen are good price but trunk is tiny, have a hard time even getting a small hooker in there. Third and fourth gens have a good sized hatch, you could fit 2-3 hookers easy but high liftover and glass hatches so the

But it had it. It was taken away AFTER he bought it. Tesla are being weasely by taking it away lemon lawed or not.

That’s not what the article says. It says it had the features at the dealer, had the features when he bought it and brought it home and lost the features at the next software update. Not the dealers fault, not the buyers fault. Unless Tesla has an online system where you can check if a car is going to “lose” features

Having recently been shuttled in the mb dealers Metris I was blown away with how crappy the interior was. I mean it’s GM levels of hard, squeaky plastic. I know they are a “work” van (except this one had three rows and was obviously for transporting people) but do they have to suck so hard? Also apparently requires

Ahh yes, the lunatics that don’t want LA to look like a toxic cloud like it did in the 70's and want air for their kids to breath and maybe Florida to not be underwater.

I have, it’s okay but not as funny as the TG episode.

So I agree the Tesla valuation is nuts but saying they are “just a car company” is also pretty narrow minded. They are a car company that own all the “gas stations” for their brand and all the “dealerships” and repair shops (something no other manufacturer does). They are also getting paid by their competitors to make

Nope, apparently no one around here has bought one cause if they had i’m pretty sure I would have remembered that!

Yep, GM has designed killer concepts for what 60 years now and always either killed them off or blanded them down so far they were unrecognizable at launch. Being a designer at GM must be so disheartening. No wonder the good ones quit.

Sweet zombie Moses is that real? Like an actual designer signed off on that? Was somebody holding a gun to their kids head or something?

GM is literally the poster child for corporate inertia and design by committee so yes, they only succeed on volume, not quality and will always poorly execute the least best plan. They have occasional glimpses of maybe not genius but at least strong competence but generally these are fucked over by penny pinching and

My wife and her family are Vietnamese (came over when Saigon fell) and they all thought the Vietnam special was the best show ever. I actually had to put in on flash drives for them to watch at home. I was worried they’d find Clarkson a little “racist” but they thought it was all funny.

So you know Tesla literally just built a huge factory in less than one year from ground breaking to cars coming out right? I mean I agree manufacturing is normally glacial (I’m in manufacturing and 9 months is our normal time from contract signed to production launch but normally that’s after the lawyers screw around

Yep, know lots of engineers previously at blackberry. Apple was never going to succeed right up to the time blackberry fired them all. Hubris is a hell of a drug.

Nothing’s geared lower then a unimog and they are turbo diesel so with boost adjustment they will loose less horsepower then naturally aspirated.
