One of the replies suggested the bodyguards aren’t for the Twitter employees (if software engineers really want to fuck up your life, they’re not going to do it physically anyways) but for the Saudi investors whose money Elon is essentially lighting on fire by running Twitter into the ground.

AND Thunderlips*. “It’s all fake, meatball!”

Last Crusade was profoundly overrated imo, every Indy movie has gotten progressively worse since the perfection of Raiders of the Lost Ark, though I enjoyed Temple of Doom more than most people seem to. Die Hard With A Vengeance is great fun, you can tell Jeremy Irons is having a blast hamming it up and Samuel L. Jacks

I love the phone call between Bourne and Noah Vosen in Ultimatum.

My favorite phrase to use on my kid when she says one of my favorite bands/games/whatever sucks “You’re entitled to your wrong opinion.”

8. Journey

It sounds like he put the much fancier sounding “international relations” on his resume and just assumed (probably correctly) that they wouldn’t check. The linked news report with his transcript shows his full name as “William Andrew Ogles, IV” - any family that goes to the Roman numerals probably has the money to

claimed he only learned about the discrepancy last week after he requested his transcript from Middle Tennessee State University

The part that cracks me up about these loons is when they talk about being “locked inside of your house” and “forced to take the vax”. I live in California - one of the more aggressive states in terms of COVID restrictions and closures - and left my house every day during the pandemic, even sold a house and moved

Also see: all the small (and large) businesses who want to assert their right to refuse service to gays because of “sincerely held religious beliefs”, but never apply those same beliefs to straight adulterers, fornicators, etc.

The Boomers and the cohort before the Boomers (the Silent Generation) STILL have it. The fucking President of the United States was born DURING WWII. The previous President and the person who finished 2nd in the 2016 election were born at the very beginning of the Boomer generation.

Which is why instead of competency tests, there should just simply be a maximum age. Before Reagan, the only President who had reached the age of 70 while in office was Eisenhower, and that was only for the last three months of his second term. Reagan turned 70 less than a month after his first term started and was

I wouldn’t be opposed on principle to letting Rian Johnson give us his version of Rey’s story, but the larger audience was so reflexively against TLJ that I don’t think that’s doable now.

I’m old enough to remember when right-wingers HATED Roseanne, both because her show dared to have gay characters who were treated as human and especially due to her infamous performance of the national anthem before a baseball game where she screeched the song, and punctuated it by spitting and grabbing her crotch

Eh, of the 33 different men elected President who were born before 1900, only 6 reached age 80, the same age as current President Joe Biden - John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Quincy Adams, Herbert Hoover, and Harry S Truman. Of those, only the first Adams and Hoover reached the age Feinstein is now

IMO the bigger contributor to the rise in belief in conspiracies is the Internet and social media platforms. All the local tinfoil hat types around the world are able to share their theories, connect with each other, etc. much easier than they ever could.

Also in those days, the average life expectancy was around 55 years, so it was rare for anyone to even be around at 89, let alone still serving in the Senate.

Zero chance Trump knows that word - as the article points out, that was another user’s post which he merely retweeted (sorry, ReTruthed lol) with the comment “No way?”

I have no problem with Beyoncé. She’s a very talented artist who has deservedly won many awards. And I’ve never actually heard her complain about not winning a particular award, at least publicly - it’s usually other people doing so on her behalf.
