I’d argue its more a case of mass media market share shrinking and so having to have more mass appeal and the cutting humour has moved to more niche shows like Louie, Maron and Master of Nothing.
I think its okish but they actually need to do is cut the current back stage stuff way down and then do the late night skits ala Fallon, thats what the muppets was a skit/varity show.
