I think their financial anxiety centers around fear of being “proletarianized” - losing their status as bosses who can exploit workers and being forced to become exploitable workers themselves.

I think the truth in this WaPo headline is that many Trump supporters have economic anxiety about being “proletarianized”. I’m talking about bosses of small-to-midsized companies who fear becoming a worker again because they know first hand how easy it has been to oppress and exploit people who’ve worked for them
When I have a problem with the way women talk, its usually that you’re too quick. Some of y’all do this thing where you think 3-4 points down the line from what is being said right now and then you find a way to get through all of them in like one or two sentences. It’s kind of disorienting because I need to spend a…
Better to stop at firing all the cops. Modern police forces were invented to be a tool of oppression; society will benefit most from abolishing them.
Sounds like maybe the MPD should just be abolished
I've got mad respect for botanists.
I would imagine a healthy BDSM relationship probably requires a solid bedrock of mutual trust/respect.
I think you’re onto something there. I’ve often thought it had something to do with relative emotional maturity - something women are socialized to develop more than men
Instead of “holding your breath” think about what can be done through collective action to pressure the Biden administration over the next 4 years. It’s probably going to take more than just yelling at them (although that probably helps)
Amazon is such an evil company. We need to come together to MakeAmazonPay.com
Yeah, so what are we gonna do to get some of those 74 million people to fight alongside us instead of against us? The ruling class loves to use divide-and-conquer strategies against the working class, donchaknow?
Whatever they’re still bad people for hoarding wealth and tacitly endorsing the barbaric system of capitalism we all live under. They could do what Kshama Sawant did with her salary: live on the median income in her city ($40K) and donate the rest of her salary to solidarity funds that help poor people survive…
Being a good person who is rich makes you a bad person. It really is that simple
If those reckless poker players whose money you took start robbing people to feed their kids and pay their rent - yeah that’s partially on you. Personal choices/responsibility are real things but they don't negate the far more powerful reality that we are all interconnected and the consequences of our actions…
You don’t need to understand this fiasco to know that rich people need pitchforks shoved in their faces (metaphorically and/or literally depending on context) and the best way to make that work is through COLLECTIVE ACTION. Anything you can join that is about working together to fuck over rich people is a very good…
100% agree. Maybe this is a good learning experience for some of them though - I've heard that experiencing some form of unexpected vulnerability has a way of pushing people's politics to the left.
“Single greatest achievement since Obamacare” is a VERY low bar to clear. You’re talking about Dems passing Mitt Romney’s healthcare plan (at a time they had a supermajority), which sucked so much they lost over 1000 seats in subsequent election cycles. We need to demand Medicare For All instead of pretending Obamacare…
Whenever somebody like Joe Manchin argues against this by saying it needs to be “more targeted” so it only goes to people who “really need it”, we need to yell at them, “Well then tax it back later!” Let the government employees at the IRS do the tedious work of determining eligibility instead of the general public…
That’s fucked up. Public Housing should be for anyone who needs it - including felons
I think that's just part of capitalism
