That article I linked highlights the Sanders campaign’s success at brining unlikely voters into the political process (aka: expanding the electorate) but I’ve got no explanation for why overall turnout for the Iowa caucus was so much lower in 2020 than in 2008. But if you want to evaluate the Sanders campaign’s claims

Now playing

Thank Michael Bloomberg for Brett Kavanaugh.

Bloomberg is more competent than Trump but has fundamentally the same ideology. If Bloomberg gets the nomination, we’re fucked no matter what happens. The Democratic party will fracture into irrelevance and we'll have a dangerous president again

Did you look him up? Did you read about his background and his policy proposals? If you did, you might have asked me a more intelligent question.

Complaining about our corrupt and incompetent leaders has the potential benefit of occasionally rallying people to replace them with someone better. Democrats tend to do more good stuff when they’re feeling threatened by a challenger to their Left so sometimes it’s worth it to give an AWESOME candidate like Shahid

Shahid Buttar. Look him up. WAY better than Pelosi.

I’m glad Google decided to shine a light on the Greensboro lunch counter sit-in but I would applaud their courage if they instead chose to draw attention to the Greensboro Massacre. Nevertheless, both are important history to not just remember but to actively engage with.

I never miss an opportunity to make the case for Bernie Sanders but I read The Root because I care deeply about ending racism and think reading black people’s perspectives on things is an important part of that.

Sounds like you were pretty bad at being a revolutionary if you assumed people would want to join your cause just because you put yourself at risk instead of, you know, ORGANIZING people to fight for things that materially benefit their lives.

Waffle House is where me and a crew of 10-20 anti-racism organizers normally go to debrief after public-facing actions. Not a great place for racists to congregate.

I hope some of those "purity tests" become standard. I don't want ANY politicians taking money from corporations and billionaires.

That's a stupid and simplistic take. The world is a complex place and you'll enjoy your time in it far more if you engage with the richness of all that complexity. Questions that don't have clear answers are often the ones most worth grappling with.

I think it’s worth grappling with artist’s racism because it can prompt people to further explore how deeply and broadly it has permeated our culture. If you go a step further and recognize that racism has proved to be a very effective divide-and-conquer mechanism for the ruling class to opress ALL of us to varying

Word up! Trump is so ethered now that he’s gonna just quit being president. No more caging kids, no more war crimes, no more gutting social services and definitely no more enriching the plutocrats now that Jeffries went all Hamilton on his ass!

Amazon workers got a raise thanks to “St. Bernard”

You probably don’t know any Amazon workers. Bernie got ALL of them a raise during the Trump era. Even less likely that you know anyone who worked for IBM in the 1990s - Bernie saved their pensions.

Have you read the Mueller Report? If so, maybe go back and take a look at the SCALE of Russia's interference efforts. I think this might lead you to a more nuanced conclusion than the one you've expressed here.

The movement that the Sanders campaign ignited is going to keep growing bigger and stronger regardless of what you or any other media figures do to try and stop it. We're organizing locally and internationally to build solidarity across all sorts of socio-economic divisions and we aren't going to stop in November no

This is why its important to support the “reformist DA” movement. Tiffany Caban might have lost her race but with Larry Krasner and now Chesa Boudin in power you better believe Jackie Lacey feels more comfortable about these criminal cops being held accountable.
