To be fair, it did sort of come across as a shot at the Dems, with the implication that a Republican presidency would set things right. If that was the case, I would disagree. If I misinterpreted it, then I tip my hat.

I remember reading it, and being amazed that these things actually existed. Full disclosure, I had to get on the internets to find the date of that issue.

In general, these monsters have been know for a long time. There was a great article in the February 1994 edition of Scientific American that covered the subject well. I doubt there has ever been such an amazing sample found before, though.

How much time was left? Like 8 minutes? And that tied the game. A good team can overcome adversity. It was a major screw-up to be sure, but they had time to get it right. If they couldn't do that, then they didn't deserve to win.
