*sigh*
Thanks for that. What an absolutely f*ing amazing airplane. Our capabilities fell an order of magnitude when we dumped these bad boys.

A lot of blind support here for the company, and doubt for the ex-employees. Their stories don't seem made up to me. If they were works of fiction, anyone could make up better stories than that. The story about you-carry-this-stuff cuz I'm better certainly rings true, especially in a union-based adversarial

Still, that's a pretty telling graph...

overcame the shrinkage effect, too...

I remember that. I had forgotten it for many years...

You get 1 point for being the first with the Ice Station Zebra reference...

Combat radius is a very relative measure. On mission, the F-22 must be clean, with all fuel and weapons stowed internal. Meanwhile, the combat radius of the F-15 (and most other fighters) has a different meaning. Comparing apples to apples (external fuels tanks, etc.), the F-22 has a marginally lower combat radius

I don't think the F-22 is a FU; it was just uber-expensive. Now, with the F-35, you may have a point...

In Canada too:

It is actually important enough work. These missions are mostly about sneaky business, but also to test the response. Wouldn't be great to not take them seriously...

That was very good; thank you. He was a special player, and I never ever heard anything bad about him.

That is seriously intense...

Here's a photo of my old 74 Datsun pickup:

I didn't mean to start one; I just get my teeth gnashing when I hear people saying that they refuse to drive domestic cars. (And I hear it a lot...) Didn't mean to paint you with that brush.

A more sophisticated version of this. The original was a concept suggested by a British school kid in WW2...

You can spin it any way you want to. The point I was making is that I get it that you're pissed at the quality of American cars. However, if we all get mad and decide to buy imported cars instead, that WILL make the economy smaller, and it WILL affect American jobs (not just in the auto industry, sorry), and one of

Buy Toyotas instead. And then, when the economy shrinks even more, you can drive a reliable car to the unemployment office.

Looks pretty impressive. Ideal test conditions? Ideal orientation?
I'm a bit skeptical...

That was a terrific article.

Very good article. I came to this conclusion a while ago. For me, cost was the biggest concern, plus Canada's prime mission- to patrol its east, west and northern borders (mostly the latter) is more suited to a 2-pilot, twin engine platform...
