I've had issues with Skyrim characters saying things that the Kinect picked up and acted upon. Kept the sound low after that happened a couple of times. Would calibration at higher volumes help deal with that?
So, do his paintings show similarities to such naturals setting when taken with UV imaging? I mean, was he able to use pigments that reflected/absorbed UV light to accurately represent what he was seeing?
God help you on articles touching on politics and/or religion.
When did we find the first dino skeletons? Could such skulls, claws, etc have turned up before (from geological events/natural weathering) and people wondered what they were? Why would the creatures have to have been alive contemporaneously to feature in myths?
We all breathe easier. :)
Run Fatboy Run
Being Human (UK)
and a few other movies... One of the things I noticed about stuff from the UK fairly early on was how race could be so random (yet accents/culture was the same). I had to check my feelings about it. My mom has said that bi-racial dating/marriage isn't so good because of the culture clash…
Is it a good or bad thing that Americans grow up watching movies/tv shows where people play ethnicities/nationalities they don't belong to?
Ben Kingsley? Johnny Depp? Jackie Chan? Morgan Freeman?
artiofab, that is why I care.
That pretty closely matches my understanding of the situation.
I think there may be promise in tapping our own waste to produce what we need. New Scientist had a pretty fascinating article recently about how much metal could be mined from our cities, from copper in unused pipes/wires to platinum group metals in…
Ah, I see.
This is a good point. I don't know. But starting from a position of "NO" isn't going to get all the best people thinking proactively about it and working out the kinks.
There are problems with all of the solutions we have now.
Florida wouldn't even try. Porous limestone, you see. It'd be like trying to keep water out of a sponge by pushing dice up against it.
Cali has a coastal mountain range and much of the coast is cliff. Driving the 1/101 can be a harrowing, breathtaking experience.

and the different density/mass of salt vs. fresh water
Isn't the outstanding question whether or not there will be system feedback and the current rates dramatically change?
I.e. is there a threshhold for ice melt past which ice melt speeds up?
I suppose I could also throw out this argument:
If you believe in climate change and you're wrong, you prepare and improve infrastructure against current disasters, improve living conditions for everyone, avoid peak oil issues, and make energy production more libertarian at the expense of possibly wasting money.

Absolutely.
I like to compare it to the difference between landing a plane
and crashing it.
The plane is descending in both cases.
There have been times of rapid change tied to mass extinctions. We will probably do just fine without the panda (who seems determined to go extinct) but what are the chances we will…
I don't think theaters are going to go away for one reason: cabin fever.
My husband gets stir crazy on the weekends a lot and just wants out of the house. We have enough media at home to fill up several weekends, but we still like to get out and "do something" and going to the theater is an easy option. We avoid…
I agree on the movie theaters. We go a lot, and I keep earplugs in my purse. It's amazing how clear everything in the movie is even with earplugs in your ears. I vary the depth depending on how loud it is. Some movies are loud enough to damage your hearing, and in a couple of instances I have spoken to the theater…
