I drove one. I did not like it. It needs to lose the batteries and needs a more powerful motor. Kinda pointless now. I’d like to meet the person that chooses this over, say, a Fiesta ST.

I like driving this car. Its fun. Tight around the corners and you can’t beat 40 mpg.
Why? Drive one. You’ll like it. I’ve found that the people that diss on the CR-Z haven’t even driven one. They are wonderful little cars - I’ve had two. Why hate on a car for what it’s not? Enjoy it for what it is - a fun to drive hybrid.
Probably just that. I’d bet the majority of people who criticize the CR-Z have never driven one and are simply parroting the opinions of others. It happens a lot on the internet.
I agree it could & should have been better, but the CRX could have been better too. I owned one.
CR-Z owner here. For reference, previously owned 3rd and 5th gen Preludes, 92 Civic Si, 94 Civic Vx, 89 Civic Si, 91 Civic Si. Never owned a CRX, but I had plenty of friends that did, and I drove them constantly. I think most of the hate when people compare the CRZ to the CRX is due to people not remembering the CRX…
A challenge! First we drag race a 1/2 mile. The CRZ will win. Then, lets take a hose from the exhaust to the interior and see you passes out first The CRX will lose. Then you drive in to an oncoming suburban in the old CRX at 25mph, and I will do the same in the new CRZ. Who ever does not die wins. Still think there…
Have to say I actually disagree with the CR-Z. In manual form it’s a total riot to drive and weirdly for a committed petrolhead I liked the hybrid drivetrain. It actually worked and when you had to do boring commute-type work with it it was quite cool to be able to use the system. I’m all for a screaming VTEC (former…
I’ma go ahead and say I’ve never driver a CR-Z,
Toyota knows about that with the Tercel, Echo, and Yaris. All are really good cars that are/will be still on the road even 15-20 years later with hundreds of thousands of miles. Even the cheapest Toyota is still a great car.
The Yaris is awesome. Stop the hate. It's a CAR! It's not just a car though, it's Le Car, now that they're made in France. oo la la
The Echo is awesome. Stop the hate. And you don't need power steering on a car that light (it was just a smidge over 2000 lb)
Engine swaps can be hilarious. For ages now, there have been plenty of people doing crazy stuff like squeezing Chevy…
